in the mid-2000s, i read a paper for school discussing a study which had compared scans of normal and transsexual brains to each other, and found that the transsexual’s distributions of grey and white matter often more closely resembled the brains possessed by cis members of their identified sex, rather than the trans’ birth sex. i found this fairly convincing (especially considering trannies in the 2000s vs now) until i learned years later, i think on BARpod of all places, that the study did not control for homosexuality.

It's a bad study for other reasons:

- Very low number of "participants" (in quotations because the participants in question were all dead; it was a postmortem study that included only six transsexual males. Six!)

- It never been replicated

I believe there are also problems with how they developed their hypothesis but I don't have time to go into it right now. Short version, it's a bad study and I am in disbelief that we are still cutting people's dicks off based on 30-year-old research that does not replicate.

There are structural differences visible in MRI, but having features typical of the opposite sex correlates more with homosexuality than transsexualism. Which is kind of obvious - sexual orientation is the most sexually dimorphic mental trait, and it must be somehow determined by brain structure, unless you believe in substance dualism or something.
There are also cognitive tests which give you a sort of bimodal distribution (women have like 0.6-0.8SD lower spatial ability), but I don't know any literature about applying them to troons. Judging by the populations in which they are most heavily represented (programmers and soldiers), the results would be inverse-correlated.

We really don’t know enough about the human brain in order to say whether gendered differences (beyond size) between men and women exist or not.

What further complicates things is that the brain is plastic and things like trauma (and a whole bunch of other things) physically changes the brain.

I keep trying to figure out what happened with "kiddos." It used to be just a silly word that normal people used to be lighthearted. But now it definitely has an unholy connotation of some sort. Is it a code word from some site they all frequent on the dark web? Something weird happened there. Best guess I have is it's some sort of psychological distancing mechanism. They aren't children (about whom there are certain customs and taboos) they are "kiddos" which is something newfangled, progressive, outside that boundary.

And as for folks, I saw someone say "folx" unironically the other day and did a triple take- I forgot people use that "word" earnestly but here we are.

Haven't logged on in like a week, but after reading this recent Stale article undermine all of J.K Rowling's problems with the "movement", I want to know what dirt the troon movement has?
