New Jimin who looks nothing like Jimin might not be The Real Deal but they actually look cute together:

There's good music and bad music, but how do people end up making music like his? It's like a bunch of Apple Loops thrown together, makes sense and not a note wrong but that kind of shit always sounds like royalty free stock music played at a store in 2005.

I do think of it something a scally would listen to, which makes sense. Oli did look pretty low-class, and I don't know if the term scally is right. But he had this look to him, that in my opinion is more low-class and less bright than a regular normie.

Low-class people tend to unironically like really bad music based on obvious voicetune.
It is a trashy song you would play at a nachspiel, and brits are known to be notorious drunks. I can see this being sneaked in a playlist and no one minding it.

Seriously. Hopefully Oli has a kinder fate in store for him, so far he's doing great! : ))))))))
Oli Rose looks great with a straight wig.

Americunt here: what's a Sally? I got the gist of it via context clues....Oh! Do you guys think he'd avoid a place like Dom. Rep. due to the country allowing both Chinese and Japanese immigrants there (And Korea/Japan not having a friendly history in WW2? Dunno about China)

Welcome back everyone.

It's been an interesting couple of weeks for Oli London

First, the good:
Oli has recently hosted a K-Pop concert in Troxy, London where — I shit you not — they premiered the debut of a brand new girl group called 'Rocking Doll'

Now the ugly:

It seems like Oli is in the midst of a bit of a identity crisis (surprise, surprise). In addition to the apology posted above, kor has now posted a video where kor talks about how difficult it is being bullied, trolled, hated etc. What's most interesting to me is that Oli now appears to be seeing a therapist and it seems like some degree of insight has started to make a change in ean's life. I predict that things will get more intense from now on; I somehow doubt that kor is going to fade out into obscurity, havin re-evaluated ean's life with the help of a therapist. Maybe that will happen but, boy, that will have to be one good therapist. Usually I'd wish to be a fly on the wall in the therapist's practice, but in this case I don't really think we have to do that.

What strikes me most in the apology video is that Oli's thought processes are made pretty transparent. It's now very clear to me that, like all the best lolcows here, Oli is a Cluster B. And I really stand by my earlier diagnosis-at-a-distance of Histrionic Personality Disorder but now I think I have to add some kind of obsessive-compulsive component. What's so fascinating is that amidst ean's rambling kor comes out with some sometimes stunningly lucid insights (like, can really verbalize why and how it got this bad); but then kor always returns to the same sorts of obsession (with Jimin, Korea, etc.). You can actually see--in real time, as if it were a psychotherapy session--the role of the obsession unfolding. Kor returns compulsively to the obsession and is then derailed from actually feeling the emotion behind these insights, of actually internalizing anything. It's why Oli seems so blank when talking about all of this - kor understands it and can talk about it rationally but doesn't let eanself actually go into the feelings. You can see the obsessions role as a defense against truly being with what is going on. And I think that Oli is doing well to attribute a lot of the identity disturbance to trauma. The way Oli responds to the lack of coherent sense of self is to defend against feeling it through obsession which also handily gives ean a way to get attention and be outrageous, which again serves to abate any feeling of lack of stability in ean's self-image.

An instructive extract is the following, which I've color-coded.
"I'd just like to apologize to any member of the Asian community who has misunderstood me or misinterpreted me or thought maybe I was a little bit too obsessed with Jimin. Now my latest obsession is Rosé from BlackPink but I'm trying to control that. But I just want to apologise to anyone in the Asian community that may have misinterpreted me. I have no bad intentions. I love Korea with such a passion you guys have no idea." (from 8:36 in the apology video).

Psychoanalyst Philip Bromberg popularized the term self-states to talk about how, since our identities are rather fluid, we can occupy distinct “modes of being” in response to particular situations or feelings or positions. I think we can observe at least three different self-states going on for Oli here.
(i) A position of taking responsibility: This is the part of Oli that kor feels is closest to 'me', it's ean's most functional day-to-day persona and is the part ean's therapist is trying to help ean develop. Kor is trying to apologise and take responsibility (and probably feels like that it was kor is doing) but this part of ean isn't strong enough yet to avoid being overwhelmed by defenses aimed at holding together ean's damaged psyche.
(ii) A narcissistic defense: Here, Oli literally negates ean's own apology and displays a jarring lack of insight and perspective-taking. Part of kor is unwilling to let ean see how ean's behavior might appear to others, probably because it threatens the very thin identity that Oli has which is predicated on being liked, admired, seen as good, etc. It's like, even if Oli hurt people it was only because they "misunderstood" or "misinterpreted" ean. "I have no bad intentions" is just such a classic line here - if you've ever had the misfortune to hang around Cluster Bs you've probably heard it. It's as if Oli's intentions count for more than whatever happens in the world as a result of Oli's actions, as if "good intentions" excuse ean. If people can't see kor had "good intentions", it is their fault for "misinterpreting" Oli. Note, not ean's behavior but "misinterpreting" his very identity.
(ii) The obsessive defense: Almost like a someone with Tourette's, these just are thrown into Oli's speech stream. I think they seem to occur more frequently where the topic is ego-threatening or anxiety-inducing, where the lack of coherent self or identity crisis might risk being felt. That is, they're a defense against Oli getting to the real root of the trauma. They're probably the part that is most effective to work with and challenge in therapy, but getting beyond that into actually feeling the identity crisis will be tough on Oli.

I'd like to admit here, after all this sperging and psychobabble, that I feel a lot of compassion for Oli. The pictures of twenty-something Oli, before Korea and all the surgeries, make me feel really sad. <3 This is someone who had a rough childhood, probably a rough infancy given the disordered nature of ean's personality. When kor might have had a chance to develop a more coherent and stable identity, during adolescence, kor was bullied and excluded and further isolated. I hope Oli has a therapist worth their salt who can help Oli develop into a healthier, happier person. :optimistic:

P.S. Btw, I really really really really want to watch Gangnam Beauty, Yan Tomaszewski's short art film starring Oli. It looks so interesting and weird. Any leads on a stream...?! I can't find it anywhere.

Edit: Had to correct a few pronouns to make sure I am not being Koreaboophobic.

Ostatnio edytowane:
He’s really chubbing out lately. And he does not look or sound well at all. British media loves a public breakdown, so expect to see more of him in the papers as things go further off the rails.

How long until he’s doing hideous porn with the husband, or have we been and done that already? Seems the kind of hype he’d go for next.

People like Oli are difficult. One one hand I feel a bit sorry for him, as he’s obviously harbouring some trauma and isn’t mentally well. On the other hand, he’s been courting media so much that it feels like a lot of this shit is his own fault. I dunno, I kinda have a soft spot for the daft fool. I’d like to see him get a grip on reality and turn his life around. Don’t think it’s going to happen, though.

Lord.

Rest in Peace, Rosè. You had just barely begun to live. I am so sorry Oli's internalized transphobia caused him to take your life away so violently. At least you'll be relieved of wearing those nappy wigs all the time. Godspeed.

If Eminem becomes his next object of obsession, I swear... :cryblood: A real-life parody of Pete Burns and now Stan, too?
