ABC’s The View took an uncomfortable turn on Monday when moderator Whoopi Goldberg repeatedly insisted the Holocaust was not about race, prompting a heated discussion among the show’s roundtable.

Devoting one of the talk show’s “Hot Topics” to the recent controversy over Maus, the Pulitzer-winning graphic novel about the Holocaust, the hosts were largely in agreement that a Tennessee school board banning the book due to profanity and nudity was silly given the content matter.

“I’m surprised that’s what made you uncomfortable, the fact that there was some nudity. I mean, it’s about the Holocaust, the killing of 6 million people, but that didn’t bother you?” a baffled Goldberg said.

“I am not sure they don‘t use the naked part as kind of a canard to throw you off from the fact that history that makes white people look bad,” liberal co-host Joy Behar replied.

“Maybe,” the Oscar-winning actress replied. “Well, this is white people doing it to white people. Y’all go fight amongst yourselves.”

While those remarks didn’t initially draw the ire of her co-hosts, a few moments later in the discussion, Goldberg revisited her suggestion that there was nothing racial about the Holocaust—which was set in motion by the Nazis over their belief in the Aryan “master race” and desire for racial “purity.”

After several hosts agreed that the recent conservative push to ban so-called “critical race theory” from schools is creating “confusion” and leaving kids unprepared for “the real world,” Goldberg shot back: “If you’re going to do this, let’s be truthful about it because the Holocaust isn’t about race. No. It’s not about race!”

Though Behar immediately noted that the Nazis considered Jewish people “a different race,” Goldberg continued to assert that Adolf Hitler’s “Final Solution” was not racial.

“What is it about?” Behar asked at one point.

“It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about,” Goldberg replied.

“But it’s about white supremacy,” co-host Ana Navarro retorted. “It’s about going after Jews and Gypsies.”

Goldberg, meanwhile, claimed that “these are two white groups of people,” prompting co-host Sara Haines to point out that “they didn’t see them as white” while Behar noted that the Nazis targeted Black people as well.

“But you’re missing the point! You’re missing the point,” Goldberg exclaimed. “The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley. Let’s talk about it for what it is. It’s how people treat each other. That’s the problem.”

She continued: “It doesn’t matter if you are Black or white because Black, white, Jews, Italians, everybody eats each other. So is it—if you are uncomfortable if you hear about Maus, should you be worried—should your child say, ‘Oh my God, I wonder if that's me?’ No. That’s not what they’re going to say. They’re going to say, ‘I don’t want to be like that.’”

As the segment came to an end, the table seemed to agree on the concept that most children “don’t want to be cruel” and that learning about the Holocaust is necessary.

“To learn about man’s inhumanity to man, however it exposes itself,” Goldberg proclaimed as the show went to commercial break.

The Anti-Defamation League called out Goldberg's remarks on Monday afternoon, labeling them as a “dangerous” distortion of history that downplayed its impact on Jewish people.

“No @WhoopiGoldberg, the #Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people – who they deemed to be an inferior race,” ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted. “They dehumanized them and used this racist propaganda to justify slaughtering 6 million Jews. Holocaust distortion is dangerous.”

Whoopi has never given any fucks about "offending" people. Remember her Friar's Club roast in 1993 where her boyfriend Ted Danson got onstage in blackface and said nigger a dozen times?

Yeah it was all her idea and she wrote the jokes.

When Danson took the stage for Whoopi’s Friar’s Club roast, his look alone was offensive enough to people. Danson had donned a top hat and had blackface makeup with giant lips painted white. Then came the outrageous material.

With Mayor David Dinkins, Anita Baker, Shari Belafonte, and Montel Williams in attendance, Danson told jokes about his sex life with Whoopi and used the n-word over a dozen times. Williams, who was on the dais, left in the middle of the set. and compared the event to “a meeting of the Klan.”

As for Dinkins, New York’s mayor said he was “embarrassed for Whoopi and the audience.” However, after an apology, the Friars Club chairman expressed surprise that people were offended by a roast. After all, that’s what roasts are, and everyone there knew what Danson was planning to do.

Whoopi agreed with that sentiment “I don’t care if you don’t like it,” she told the horrified crowd in her rebuttal. “I do!″ Later, she said she resented the blowback from shocked people who didn’t even know her.

“If they knew me,” she told the Times, “they would know that Whoopi has never been about political correctness.” In a recent interview, she said she hadn’t changed her mind about it. And that she had written the jokes for Danson to tell.

Note to any (((people))) reading this thread: if minorities call for the culling of white folks in large numbers, they're not going to care that you're not actually white. They'll see your pasty ass and that'll be the end of the discussion.

Saying you should be against hate in general and not reduce it to race wars used to be viewed as a fairly milquetoast position, now with modern critical race theory logic that's viewed as being racist to not judge people on race.

In Whoopi's case it probably won't end up meaning much as Jews don't have nearly as much influence in the outrage industry as they once did. In the outrage industry Jews are basically equivalent to whites and it confuses the various non-white groups to see pity given to what they see as a bunch of white people.

Whoopi also had her apperance on Stephen Colbert to apologize and the guy went on about whiteness being a social construct. One thing that came up was Whoopi saying Nazis had an issue with ethnicity not race, basically going along with the popular belief that Jews are to be lumped in with whites.

Whoopi just said the quiet part out loud and it's hilarious. Leftists have been teaching everyone that white people are scum. How do you know them? Skin color. What color are jews?

Uh....

And the funniest part is she has a fake Jew stage name, while every Jew in Hollywood tries to hide their real name.

Sorry I should have worded it better, you're right that it was racial at the time I was more talking about how we treat races in the modern sense of white, black, latino, asian etc because that is the lens the mental midgets at The View would be looking at it through.
MAUS even points out the fact it wasn't just a jew thing at one point with the german soldier that got put in the camps being considered "jewish" IIRC. On the surface level german propaganda level and the hollywood-ified history level it was only jews, but in actuality it was just standard tyrranical state regime type shitwhere a chunk of the victims were POWs, State officials that got on the wrong side of their superiors, and soldiers deemed not useful, and a lot more varieties of "may not be actual jew" types.

It really wasn't about race, it was about power. If you Thanos snapped everyone the Nazis considered subhuman out of existence they would have been scrambling to find a new Jew.

Inside Edition is trying to profit off of Whoopi Goldberg’s Holocaust comments by trying to inflate the rise of anti-Semitism in America, while showing a scene of a driver pranking Orthodox Jews by throwing snow on them.

Immature maybe, but the media is really pushing this for views while not really caring that much for Jews.
:story:

The lesson of the Holocaust wasn't that you shouldn't try to villify a group of people.

The lesson was that white people are evil and bad and should be eliminated.

Depends on how deep the View ratings will tank.
She’s been suspended from the show, both proving that Jews are so sensitive that anything that takes focus away from Jewish people who were targeted by the Holocaust, and that people who view themselves through their Judaism as their primary identity have a large influence.

Regardless, I will now call her “whoopsie Goldberg” from now on
