I feel like every time I see these “I hope company X dies” posts, I can only say that the rumors are greatly exaggerated. If only because I can’t see how a single bad thing can cause a business to go under with a Thanos snap. It’s usually death by a thousand cuts I feel. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen lots of Discord talk about RT going under and the RWBY IP being sold for seemingly peanuts and pennies on the dollar.

I don't necessarily think that's what will happen just hope.

I do think several people will get canned though.

Mermaids UK is literally doing that to children. Parents would rather have a Trans daughter than a Gay son, or in the case of Mermaids UK, they'd rather have a Trans CLASSMATE than a Gay CLASSMATE, since Mermaids UK was the group that said they could identify "Chronic" gender dysphoria in a 2 hour long therapy session and get kids on permanently sterilizing puberty blocker medication that very day, and do all this without involving the parents at all, and if the parents complain, well, that's a hate crime and they'll push to have the kids taken away from the parents.

What on earth is a "spam donation"? Either the credit cards are legitimate or they aren't, and I bet there's a good spread of people donating. I can't think of any liability GFM carries for ridiculous user names.

If they didn't want people to be able to choose whatever name they want, they shouldn't put the fields for it, and just leave the Anonymous option. Surely this isn't the first time the joke has happened.

Perhaps some of these people were donating frequently with different names hoping for a shoutout from Nick way to quickly, which set off a spam flag. According to their help section donating multiple times is discouraged and may result in refunding the donation, as is donating under false names.

Best practices when donating

To prevent your donation from being automatically refunded:

1. Donate with your own personal card and from your own device. Do not use someone else's card.
2. Donate with your own name. Do not use a nick name. If you would like to change your name after the fact, you will be able to do so from your receipt.
3. Do not donate multiple times in a row. Instead, it's best if you donate one larger amount.

Given that some funny names are left there, I don't think it's just them getting rid of donations thanks to someone being offended.

Yeah the most recent ones are up but the ones from this morning have disappeared it seems oddly enough. I even got refunded from some I made last night also. Idk what’s up. Hopefully Nick will be able to talk to GFM.

As anyone having issues with GFM refunding their funny named donations? All of my funny names donations got refunded to me. I double checked with my bank and there is NOTHING wrong with my account.

Idk if they’re purging them but it is weird how this happened to both of us at the same time. Hopefully it’s just a mistake but it is neither of our bank accounts. He message GFM support to see if what’s going on. Hopefully it’s just us two and not everyone else.

If this has become an issue, I'm sure people won't like it, but to ensure the GFM isn't jeopardized in anyway (as in individuals getting these messages not being able to donate any longer), I think the best decision for Nick to make would be put an end to the funny names contest unfortunately.

I've had my suspicions when I first saw Vic many years ago and now after seeing this video and watching his reaction to the accusations of him being homophobic during his deposition it seems like a subject that very much strikes a nerve. He went out of his way during his depo to state he was not homophobic and why. He gets passionate and heated like seen in the video.

That's a bit too far on "methinks he doth protest too much" mentality for me.

Vic is definitely flamboyant, but that probably serves him well in multiple facets of life, specifically his job, and getting laid. There is nothing wrong with being concerned about your hair as a straight man. Yeah highlights are abnormal for straight guys, but hair loss prevention products are a multi million dollar industry. Good hair you take care of is something lots of women are going to comment on if you're attractive. More conversations started = more getting your dick wet.

His vehement response to not being a homophobe just sounds like someone who has a reputation that he cares about and has dealt with years of rumors about it. He probably also has lots of gay fans and knows it. If someone were going to attack my wallet through the back door (pun intended) by calling me a bigot, I could see getting angry. This is the same argument that is used to say "white fragility is white people's angry reaction to being confronted with their own privilege and racism." Call people racists and they get angry. Go fucking figure. Their angry refutation is not proof of their guilt.

Also the anime scene is literally full of emo fags. It might not have nearly the negative connotation it does now as 20 years ago, but how many emo gay kids do you think Vic saw crying and depressed over coming to terms with being gay in the last two decades? I would bet Vic has hugged and comforted more blubbering gay weebs and made them feel better with simple but genuine platitudes of "you're awesome" or "you're beautiful" or "there's nothing wrong with you" than almost any single other person on the planet. I get the impression that Vic likes fucking, getting attention, voice acting, and making people feel better about themselves. Even if the latter is just a bonus, if I felt like I was doing legitimate good on that end, I wouldn't want rumors interfering with it either.
