Games like Shin Megami Tensei, Fate/Stay and a few others have cloud services but you still need to transfer said data before you do. Without it...

They really wouldn’t have a leg to stand on. From what I’ve read about these games, they (read: Philip) lost the $100k+ long before their phone broke.
