So they can get X clicks per article, and that many more ad impressions. That's why it is called clickbait.

Yeah. I'm hoping before long people will grow so used to them it won't work anymore and people can go back to writing normal articles and not lists.

Or "why X made me think differently about Y", oh and the classic "X Subject Only a Y Would Understand".
