I wonder if they actually think they have multiple personalities or they just think they can trick people into thinking they do.

Plurals/alters/tulpas/DID/MPD have been around for a while on Tumblr. Could be a way to express feelings that they're not comfortable with owning...

Because they're kids and it's called "having an imaginary friend" or "having an active imagination" that's all. And for the ones still doing it...
