It's rare, but (at least in the U.S.) I've seen it done for regular flu outbreaks if 30+ people at the school are sick.

I've seen classes close due to flu. Mostly because if almost every kid in class is home sick there's no point in trying to maintain schedule...

Schools are closed until the end of February but there is e-learning at home.
