It wouldnt, paying off the media is the bread and butter business for some lawyers. It would only look bad for Buzzfeed.

I think the point of the Buzzfeed gay-op was to get Buzzfeed to then write an article ("LAWL, This guy tried to pay to get an article taken down")...
