youtube-dl does more or less anything and is sort of a Swiss army knife for streams/video on YouTube. It also uses ffmpeg.

I see. I will have to give it a shot. My plan is to archive TUG's Anime Matsuri's stream (since he always takes them down after a couple of days)...
