A light sport aircraft hit Beijing’s tallest skyscraper, Citic Tower, on Friday, triggering evacuations and scattering debris across the Chinese capital’s central business district.

It was not immediately clear whether the crash caused any casualties or how many people had been on board the aircraft. The origin of the aerial vehicle and the circumstances leading to the crash were also unknown.

Videos posted to social media showed the aircraft striking the upper floors of the 528-metre (1,732-foot) tower, with chunks of wreckage falling onto the surrounding pavement and green space. Additional footage showed occupants being evacuated from the building.

A woman surnamed Lin told the South China Morning Post that she had been urgently evacuated from the building at 6pm.

“I ran out without my ID card or bag,” she said.

A bystander who works in a nearby building said he had heard a loud noise at around 5.40pm, but added that he had not seen the crash. Police cordoned off the roads surrounding the site of the incident and dispersed the crowd, maintaining a heavy police presence around the skyscraper.

Several ambulances were also seen parked near the building.

Online photos of the wreckage showed the aircraft’s registration number was B-12PP, and Flightradar24 records identify the plane as a Sunward SA60L Aurora – a two-seat, single-engine light-sport aircraft made by China’s Starair Aircraft Co.

One social media post claimed the light sport aircraft was operated by a local company that offers private pilot training, aerial sightseeing and aircraft management. Calls to the company went unanswered on Friday night.

So far there has not been any official announcement about the incident. Posts about the crash were quickly removed from Chinese social media.

Flying any light sport aircraft in Beijing requires stringent approval from both the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.

Last month, Beijing enacted sweeping regulations on its airspace, effectively banning casual recreational flying and consumer drones. All outdoor flights require prior government and air traffic approval.

Flying, selling, renting or bringing drones or core components into the capital city is entirely prohibited, though Beijing has designated Yanqing district as a dedicated low-altitude flight and drone-testing zone.

China has been proactively developing its low-altitude economy – a sector encompassing manned and unmanned aerial activities including drone deliveries and urban logistics. China’s 2026 government work report officially designated the sector as a national “emerging pillar industry”.

Citic Tower serves as the headquarters for the China International Trust and Investment Corporation, one of China’s largest state-owned multinational conglomerates. Completed in late 2018, it is Beijing’s tallest building, surpassing the China World Trade Centre Tower III by around 190 metres.

There's definitely more to it. They never tried to hide any mass stabbings. There's no reason this basically 0 casualty incident needs censorship.
The people in charge are basically 0% likely to die in a copycat mass stabbing, so the only people who want to suppress the news are the local officials who will have to take the fall for it.

But when the disgruntled proles can nosedive straight into your fortified compound? That's a different problem.

Update.
  • 13 injured, no deaths.
  • Pilot died.
  • Sunward SA 60L Aurora.
  • 66-year-old male, divorced, they found his diary.
  • Countless instances of "wanting to die".
  • Concluded as a deliberate act to cause harm to others.
Lmfao this faggot killed himself by flying a plane into a wall.

Unless you mean those at the very top? In China, politicians have special plates. I have ran across many politicians, and had numerous chances to do something nasty if I wanted to. There's also a public government directory to see who represents the area, their education, ethnicity and other statuses.
This retard took a small plane and tried to crash into a building. What a fucking retard. The damage was akin to running a car into a storefront.
Hell, a car would have likely killed more people. Someone killed 46. This fucker took the title of the most ridiculous and fruitless suicide in history.

Good riddance, he's the only dead. Rest in piss faggot.
(Ricels on ChinaNet are already trying to contort this into a "foid" issue.)

Censorship speculation:
He probably released some kind of a manifesto, or the authorities were afraid that he might have released a manifesto to cause copycat incidents.

Well, at least he was the only one who died. Seems like everyone got everything they wanted except for the individuals who had their offices ruined by a plane crash.

They get to work from home! :sighduck:

It's baffling really. Did he expect a tiny jet that can only reach 220kmph do any real damage to a goliath of a building?
Like my chigga sports cars are faster than your puny chintzy chinky flying Chinesium box with a propeller, bro.

Instead of reenacting 9/11, this retard moid did this:
On October 11, 2006, a Cirrus SR20 aircraft crashed into the Belaire Apartments on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City, United States, at about 2:42 p.m. EDT (18:42 UTC). The aircraft struck the north side of the building, causing a fire in several apartments[2][3] that was extinguished within two hours.[4]

Both people aboard the aircraft were killed in the accident: New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle[3] and his certificated flight instructor Tyler Stanger.[5][6] Twenty-one people were injured, including eleven firefighters. An apartment resident, Ilana Benhuri, who lived in the building with her husband, was hospitalized for a month with severe burns incurred when the post-impact fire engulfed her apartment.[7][8]
Similar kill count (pilot) and similar injury count.

Die alone Wang.

I'd be inclined to not believe the CCP about the official kill count, but I kind of do since there's reasonable footage. What about the pilot being a woman?

He died like a true bug, smashed against a window
