Moore was, to nutshell it, a complete boomer who felt that what he grew up with was totally the best stuff and was not a fan of what modern British adventure fiction, especially boys' fiction, had become. His Potter parody was basically a mean-spirited diss at it. It's worth noting he also had issues with James Bond per an earlier unflattering incorporation of the character into the last couple volumes, Moore clearly preferred the masculine-yet-gentlemanly adventurers of the imperial era like Quatermain and Bulldog Drummond.

You're right on it being panned, as the dude admitted he didn't bother with most modern media and fiction of the time - but for sake of honesty this was just before Woke became a thing in society and so in this case the dude was less a SJW-type but more just being curmudgeonly as hell.

Eh, Moore was a vanguard of that sort of mentality and stuff, before it was all called "Woke" and "SJW".

Moore is the boomer poster child, including the intense narcissism and "I know better and I can do no wrong" attitude, plus the sheer disregard (and even bringing down) newer properties because they commit the crime of not being made by him or his ilk. He was setting up the wave of "deconstruction" that we are now drowning in today.

Just tell him how much Rorschach was right for being the only one not okay with murdering innocents for the sake of a fake "peace" (that logically will not last very long) and watch him go on an autistic tangent.

Also the Harry Potter shit felt like those early Pokemon parodies back when it was all still new and it was basically boomers mocking it and making it clear it was all a stupid fad (which...didnt age well as we all know). Idk, for me, you need more "class" when it comes to parodies because just having the "expy" of the character appear and be constantly humiliated and brought down is no better than just drawing a cartoon mustache, googly eyes and bucktooth, pointing at it and laughing (then get mad when others aint laughing along...or are laughing AT him).

Even Billy and Mandy had a more tasteful parody of Harry Potter, Nigel Planter, and that stuff was fun to watch, given how it wasnt written with the goal of deconstructing or bringing down the character, just making a cartoon parody.

I mean, saying that one character's name and things break apart? That was funny, I think it was Lord Moldybutt - my PS4 just crashed into the ground and burst into flames right now.
