With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

Jet seems to be taking their failure to do things properly as meaning the audience will never like said content. A thread that runs thru every season.
 
To be fair, it's the last 9 days out of 28? 30?. Even if Hellhouse is disliked by some, it's still a part of FT. The introduction of Duanyay and Suzie shifted the mood of the tank pretty fast and gifted us with the most brutal hallway we've seen yet. However, bringing on the milkmoder tranny after the triathlon (which caused genuine organic drama between the fish/freeloaders) was a mistake. The aftermath of the challenge could have been used as a springboard to needle the fish further instead of going full "ok, you guys are enemies now, sleep in separate rooms". Thankfully, the cast was competitive enough to chimp out at each other after the new freeloaders entered the house. But the time between those events was rough.

I think most people, myself included, who dislike Hellhouse don't strictly hate it just because its Hellhouse. We hate it because its the default setting the wiggers resort to when they run out of ideas and it just turns into cheap gross out humour that the worst segments of the fanbase seal clap for. It's ok in short bursts, but its done, its not bringing anything new to the show. Oh wow food fight? You threw piss at someone? Wow we didnt see THAT in Season 1 (we did).

The tame stuff works if they just roll with things and come up with consistent challenges. Some of the challenges like the room wars have even naturally gone into the hell house route.

I will even compliment the wiggers. They can come up with funny shit like the dragons and alien, and they clearly know how to cast interesting fish. They just need to be more adaptable and humble. But that is a big ask of them.
