The only time SLI was any good was with the 3dfx Voodoo II.

Back when there was no such thing as "a better GPU," a Voodoo 2 in SLI was the bees knees for rich kids (I just played games in VGA mode).

SLI gave buyers the choice to drop a smaller initial investment that can scale beyond flagship performance. I don't recall horrible 1% lows or...
