the trick everyone fucks up is simple. Take less, get rid of more, just like in MTG, consistency and speed is better than a bunch of cool tricks.

This is the way. You keep the deck as small and focused/well-synergised as possible unless you find a way to consistently draw and play MANY cards...

I get that. I'm an average math brain at best, and often I'm playing buzzed up as well and I refuse to ever look at any meta guides for these type...
