Mightve been darkspore, the EA rts based on Spore. It was a 2011 release. Even the solo campaign required a login so its been unplayable for years...

No, I can tell you for a fact that Ass Creed never had this problem, I've played most of them.

What comes to mind is SimCity. Maybe Assassin’s Creed II on PC?

IMO Diablo 2. Yes, it had single player but there wasn't a point in playing it.
