I had been tunnel visioned on a new icom 705 to replace my aging mkiig but if the Xiegus can have armbian installed.... I might have to reconsider...

I'd go with the Xiegu X6100 over the 705. It's got everything the 705 has plus it's hackable enough to get Armbian working. Also half the price...
