Libertarian ideals are very attractive to responsible and freedom loving adults. No responsible adult thinks the government needs to stand between them and any drug/medication/weapon/etc. There are two main realities that make the dream impossible.

1) drug addicts that will steal/kill/maim to get their drugs. The liberty of being able to buy anything causes these fucjheads to violate even more fundamental liberties. Whence, restrictions on pain meds/DEA/etc.

2) Fuckheads like Nick that reduce children/animals/etc as nothing more than property. These assholes end up hurting and killing children/animals because they refuse to believe that any danger they present is unreasonable. My guess is that three for five will end up with similar personality issues, if not "careers".

Firstly, the kids are "homeschooled" in rural-as-fuck Minnesota so will not have the normal social interaction as contrast to Nick's shit nor have many normal adults to look up to. That's a much worse position than just having a narcissist parent.

At this point, I believe that the isolated lifestyle is either intentionally or subconsciously for the purpose of moulding his kids to serve Nick's narc self image. This inherently gives them less room to rebel and or "see the light" about their shitty parents than others would have. That's already a hard spell to break, given the power of the parent/child bond, without your father's narcissism working on you from birth.

I can imagine that the oldest may remember fondly a time before his dad "changed careers" and things got worse. Might drive him away from being such a degen. I can also theorize that the youngest's life has been such a shitshow that as they get older their ego will develop with a healthy hatred for the degeneracy.

Those are kinda vain hopes because I don't feel good writing off children, five-for-five, as guaranteed to grow into shit adults. If the middle kid exhibits some of the usual middle child personality traits, oh boy, they're gonna be a chip off the old block. They're definitely the type of kids, through no fault of their own, that I would not let my child socialize with, for the risk of shit I'm not equipped to deal with rubbing off on them - and I don't mean the cocaine.
