Every serious badass needs a codename, like how Logan is called "Wolverine". And since Val is based on Brianna's original self-insert, of course...

I honestly thought it was a bug at first, like sometimes when you log into WoW and everyone's named 'Unknown'. I'm still not entirely convinced...

Rev60 lore says that Val is such an amazing pilot that no radar operator can ever pick her up on screen. Hence the name unknown.
