I could be wrong but wasn't "goblins being greedy" a stereotype even before Harry Potter? Even in stuff like Warcraft (which came out before 1997)...

You just know none of these people have ever so much as met a Jewish person; they're just barely smart enough to realise that "anti-Semitism"...
