Because a Charmander doesn't go "Squirtle, Squirtle" you dumbass. They're also waaaay more likable.

Gen 1 genders were the best, it's stupid how we have so many genders now. You can really tell they're running out of ideas.

I think it'd be easier to learn 150 of those Pokemon because you grew up with them. They just made these fake genders about, what, three years ago?
