I know. They also do so if they have a cold or flu to not make others ill. Same thing in South Korea. Still seem like a weird thing to worry about...

Longer than that, I recall seeing people masked up back in the 80's and 90's, wether it was to for colds and flu, or because of the nasty pollution.
