Could be many things besides a grift. Like "Holy fuck what do you mean you'll kill my family" or "We deleted these tweets for 'your' protection".

Again, who deleted the tweets - was it Nicki or was it someone else? I wouldn't be surprised if someone else got rid of them for her.

Could be possible they backed off & negotiated peace for her retraction.
