In real life i've noticed that more and more femme gay men are transitioning or saying they're non-binary as well. The story is always the same - they grow up not liking sports or action figures, got picked on by their peers and a lot of the time are dismissed by their male family members which results in them feeling insecure and disconnected from their gender, resulting in them going and doing something extreme. When did the gays even start giving a shit what people thought anyways?

More feminine gay guys have this love/hate relationship with masculinity/masculine men.

They talk about how "toxic" and "awful" masculinity is on one hand, but lust after masculine men at the same time.

I think many are resentful and feel like their lives would have been much easier if they were just born female, and they could get all the guys they wanted easily.

Well that just means they define their identities around even more of a nothing-burger. If their asexuality doesn’t affect important things like who and how often they fuck, or even how horny they get, it literally only means the lack of sexual attraction - however the person in question chooses to define “sexual” and “attraction” (also for that matter, how they define “lack of”).

One might still consider it a pointless yet benign social movement, were it not for the insipid whining victim narrative of “here’s how the world oppresses asexuals and how it needs to change” - which really soured me to the concept early on. Not to mention the aforementioned gateway to non-binary and troonism. With that in mind, I’m surprised we don’t talk about them more often on the Farms.

I think a lot of the asexuality culture wars kinda died down, I remember them being peaking around 2013-ish. Hit a lot of the same marks as the trans fights - "if you won't go out with someone who isn't sexually attracted to you, you're aphobic", "x character is ace, get over it", "asexuals are correctively raped more than lesbians so lesbians should shut up", "if you're heteroromantic ace then you're not straight because words don't mean things", "I'm demisexual so I do experience sexual attraction, but that's still not the same as being a normal straight person", "we're more oppressed than the rest of the LGBT community" etc. etc.

But generally that drama mostly stayed within the LGBT community and didn't really impact real world spaces all that much (because nobody gave a shit about asexuals, they were mostly annoying nerds who whined on twitter if their ugly flag wasn't included on merch) so ironically they've been completely eclipsed by trans rights. In fact I'm pretty sure many of the gender specials now would probably have been calling themselves demisexual biromantic pansensuals about 10 years ago.

I've been trying to wrap my head around this for a few minutes. Especially his claim in the center about bigotry if you proclaim someone unattractive. There are so many unspoken assumptions doing most of the heavy lifting here like especially whether or not you can consider someone outside of their sexual attractiveness. If you're not a coomer who can view people as people outside of their sexual attractiveness to you then it starts to blur.

To make an example and not show my hand about my specific tastes, I'll take someone off the first news story I click on. I can understand why certain people are attracted to Amy Comey Barrett (and I wouldn't describe her as ugly or anything like that) yet I'm not sexually attracted to her. His claim is basically that I'm now being bigoted, namely misogynistic, towards one of the most powerful women in the world because I publicly said I don't have sexual thoughts about her. It also seems to undermine his point if I were to claim that I could hypothetically find a trans person attractive, just that I have yet to find one. His central claim seems to be that if you don't find ALL people sexual attractive, it's solely in the purview of bigotry. But that claim is so broad as to be useless as analysis. Are these really the types of claims he's trying to make? It seems rationally impossible, but then again... He may actually believe that people are little more than their sexual mores. But that would be a highly regressive view of people, certainly not a very progressive one and I'm not sure he's examined it to its rational end point much more than putting the claims onto Twitter for claps from generally white male coomers.

edit: Actually, to transpose one of his examples. Are transbians heterophobic? (Or homophobic?) They're proclaiming that they find men to be unattractive! Or do these power relationships only travel in one direction? Is disclaiming your bigoted views on the attractiveness of men easily done if you first make claims as to your "actual" gender? See how quickly this descends into a morass of unchecked bigotry if you even slightly examine the propositions?

I think it may make no sense BECAUSE it makes no sense.
