Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

And then there's his vendetta against YouTube, fraught with yet more LARPing - everyone got the memo the first time he mentioned it, YouTube's moderation and treatment of horror channels is BS, but he thinks that he needs to practically hammer it in as if the audience are completely braindead.
Many youtubers act that way. "Youtube bad because demonetization!" Yes, Youtube's policies are shit (meant only to benefit mainstream/sanitized content) and their moderation and service is worse, but whining about the yellow dollar sign nonstop won't do anything to change Youtube being terrified of being associated with any "controversial" content. The Adpocalypse shit was how many years ago now? It's all complaining just to complain now, or used to shill their sponsorships.

That's everyone who report on deaths on jewtube:thinking:
And most of them are parasitic leeches profiting on misery.

Granted I think there is a huge difference in someone creating an informative video covering a murder case and Plaugedmoth's exploitative content. Moth is adding absolutely nothing of value to any of the content he covers. It isn't a detailed run down, all commentary he provides is surface-level and him pretending to be shocked.
It's been covered in this thread already, but he really is just an edgy sicko.

This whole thing reminds me of Wendigoon explaining the difference between a snuff film and a Mondo film: A snuff film is just meant to "entertain" you with the visual experience of someone dying. A Mondo film on the other hand is meant to explain or show...say, why children are playing around a dead woman's body in Columbia: it's just how life is there in that place where dead bodies just sorta appear. Moth doesn't seem to understand what he's doing isn't Mondo, it's just crude if not abhorrent to the people who suffered in what was recorded.

Just a quick recommendation I stumbled upon recently: Matt Orchard - Crime and Society

I'm not sure if he has been mentioned before - his stuff is mostly true crime but I really, really enjoy his content and the way he presents it. Maybe someone else here will like it.
matt's videos are quite fun, and i really liked his video "the one who deserves to stay" since it was one part breakdown of a criminal case and one part bants about his country. always enjoy it when commentators keep it mostly factual but then slip in a little bit of their personality every once in a while to keep it fresh.

Matt Orchard is everything MONSTERS wishes he was. Both interject their personality and sarcastic comedic comments yet somehow one is insufferable while the other is entertaining, and I can't quite place my finger on why that is.
MO is a Kiwi so perhaps that's why, when he delivers deadpan jokes his accent and attitude actually makes it funny. Meanwhile MONSTERS sounds like every other whiny petulant American.

I have yet to check out Matt Orchard but I recently gave That Chapter a try, and for me he's a good example of when these 'commentators with personality' overdo it. I know a lot of people appreciate the conversational style over a straight script reading but he'll chat a mile a minute and then hesitate, which really interrupts the flow of what he's saying. The final straw for me was during his video on the Dylan Redwine case - mate, PLEASE, enough with the shit puns (I mean puns about faeces, but they're also really poor). The odd joke here and there can be engaging, but any kind of overdone joke quickly becomes annoying (as anyone who reads the Russell Greer thread will know). A great shame because he covers some interesting cases, but I find him unlistenable.

That accent too. Sorry, Irish Kiwis.

I think it's pretty tricky to get right, isn't it? Story telling is clearly a skill and some of these guys just don't have it, at all. Droning on in a weird, monotone voice or putting on a 'spooky' voice doesn't draw me in at all. I think some people should have thought whether they had the necessary skills before they made videos - having an interest in this stuff isn't enough. Mr Ballen sets the bar here - I don't even mind stories that I've already heard before if he's the one telling them.

I quite like That Chapter, but I sort of agree. Plagued Moth puts far too much of his personality in there, and his personality is fucking annoying. Wendigoon just seems like a chill, likeable guy.

I like That Chapter's cases too, but agree wholeheartedly about the shit puns. He also makes me cringe when he says "Let's give it a goo".

You'd think he'd be able to sort himself out a new t-shirt too, with the money his channel surely rakes in. It's very scruffy seeing him in the same one all the time.

Yeah, I agree, it must be very tricky. I hadn't heard of Mr Ballen until seeing him mentioned in this thread and he's sounding pretty good so far - he seems to be able to hit that sweet spot between being informative and engaging, even with the more frequently-told stories. It's like listening to a mate excitedly telling you about a mystery or a murder! To be honest I don't mind the droning voices of people like Disturban or Shrouded Hand as long as the story is interesting, but the contrived 'spooky' voices of the likes of MamaMax are cheesy as hell and definitely unnecessary.

I've done a rapid 180 on Plagued Moth and am utterly bored of him now, his content was initially pretty interesting to me personally as I hadn't heard of quite a bit of it but he's taken a funny turn and rapidly gone downhill. For a man who puts out 'the most controversial content on YouTube' he doesn't half bitch about what other people think of him! This is why I'm liking Disturbed Reality more and more - he actually does a bit of research about the content he covers and it isn't just 'this is x gore clip, now watch me pretend to be horrified while grinning like a shit-eater'.

i like his accent, sometimes you just gotta give it a goo

I love horror channels, though I dislike how a lot benefit off of actual victims or tend to input their personal opinions. I liked scaretheater, though he hasn't uploaded in a while due to college.

Quite an interesting iceberg from Hannah The Horrible

I was debating on posting this. I've watched a few of her videos, and she's alright to me. A little woke occasionally, but nothing too bad.
