Are you someone who saves when you can, puts your money in things of actual worth that improve the lives of you and your family? Are you an adult who understands cause and effect and keeps track of your budget?
Or do you buy Funko Pops and Switch games to shove up your ass? Do you live in a bug hive and have other insects deliver your luxuries to you after purchasing them on the clicky-site? Do you keep track of your finances by checking your balance before swiping your magic card?
As the first, you'll see gas go up, something you experienced before, so you'll just cut down on your driving. You've seen groceries go up, so there will be less instant food and more cooking. Your utilities will go up, which just means turning off the air conditioner in the summer and putting on a sweater during the winter. You'll put aside extra money for the property tax, probably stop driving the extra car, keep lights off when you need to, and just buckle down and drive through it, because that's what adults do.
As the second, well, your life as you know it is over. Cheap Chinese junk will cost more. Your craft beer will cost more. Uber Eats and Door Dash will go through the roof. Your craft beer, lattes, and fast food will eat a huge chunk of your budget and you'll have to figure out what the weird square thing with the round parts on top next to your fridge does.
If you grew up in poverty, you'll be able to mitigate it. If you're in poverty, your food stamps will go up and you'll get less soda and instant food and instead go back to cooking.
If you grew up a bugman in a bughive, your life is over as the drones have their chocolate ration increased from 30mg to 20mg and their Funco Buttplug ration increased from 4 to 1 a month.

The thing that will really set off the panic is when people realize how utterly unprepared a Biden admin is to deal with something of the magnitude of what's coming, and if history is any indication, we are in for a big crash. Bigger than '08. Possibly Great Depression levels or worse. But this admin was only able to take power by shady ass practices at best and outright election rigging at worst and its only solid support is that everyone who actually voted for him did it because orange man bad. But no amount of blaming orange man will save them. It wouldn't matter if they personally strung him up from the washington monument and dispensed every cent of his estate to the people directly, panem et circensens style - no amount of hatred toward donald Trump will save them from the shitstorm they are creating with the economy. And Biden is senile, and even when he wasn't quite as senile he was still not exactly the brightest bulb on the tree, he only got the VP job because he's as dense as a fucking rock and made the old white power base of the DNC feel more comfortable with Obongo.
But Biden learned some things from Obama, most notably he learned that when shit gets bad, lie about how bad it is until you can't lie anymore, then blame someone else, then repeat. So people won't get the real perception of how bad it is getting in anywhere close to enough time to mitigate it, and by the time your average normie consoomer had figured out all isn't well and we're not in kansas anymore, it will be too late to divert course at all, we will have to weather the storm or get snuffed out by the collapse.
It's really sad tbh because so many people will die and we as a species have no fucking excuse for it. Only a few hundred years ago we readily asserted our dominance as an apex species on this planet - even uneducated idiots could at least hunt or fish somewhat if it came to it. Now? Holy fucking shit so many people will die if we get to a true collapse scenario. Your average normie probably couldn't rig a snare line if his life literally depended on it and "gardening" to these people means "buy the GMO plant already seeded and started from lowes, water occasionally".
For my part I guess I lucked out growing up both poor and redneck. Ive been living well for years now but if I had to I can live on rations of freeze dried food or even stuff I find in the woods, hunt, fish and trap without need of guns, and have my water situation taken care of. If I have to spend a few years eating squirrel gravy or venison and vegetables I grew myself it won't be that much different than my entire grade school life. Average normies though idk what the fuck they're gonna do.
On the bright side that level of consistent defanging that our society has experienced should limit the amount of cannibalism we'd see in a usa collapse scenario - if some little valley girl/boy isnt gonna figure out how to catch squirrels or birds for food they're probably not gonna survive long enough to get to the point of eating other people.
