I'm sure any lawyer would advise you that the best thing to do before going into deal making negotiations with authorities is to publicly indicate that you don't understand their main concern. It's the firearm. Look at how that couple was treated when they had a mob on their lawn. It doesn't matter any more if they come on your lawn and you have the right to protect yourself, it has to be an immediate threat, that they are barreling down on you or was pressing a trigger. Frank didn't have a weapon, or force his way into the house, there was no preemptive restraining order if this had been happening for months and Boogie was scared for his life, he randomly fired into the air in a residential area, it wasn't his gun, etc. He should stay offline, be humble, and focus on dealing with this.

For someone in fear for his life he certainly seemed eager to shoot off his gun, but he went off prematurely. Probably for the same reason he's not married any more.

Just find out where and when the hearings are and go there. There's no reason this would be private. Just don't dress like a sped, act like a sped, bring in contraband (like cell phones if they are prohibited), and you'll be fine. If you plan on taking live notes, call in advance. Some courts will allow laptops actually in the courtroom. Most seem not to, though, and in that case, have your trusty legal pad and pen.

If it's pled down, the most likely outcome, it will be to a misdemeanor, because a D class felony is the least serious crime that is called a felony. It might even be eligible for deferred adjudication where he pleads guilty or nolo, but keeps his nose clean for X amount of time and then gets the record expunged. A "serious felony involving violence" is ineligible for this. The statute seems to list "aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer etc." but not aggravated assault itself, so I'd assume that's intentional. If that happens, then he would not have a criminal record if he kept his nose clean.

Warning shots are not allowed. If you pull your gun and don’t fire it, it is defined under brandishing. Basically you can’t pull out your gun and “stick people up” like in the movies. The only time you are legally allowed to pull out a gun is if you are in fear of your life and need to stop the assailant.

If you pull it and don’t use it, then you were not really in immediate danger. You are pulling it in a attempt of intimidation or coercion. Firing a warning shot is an even more severe version of that.

Pretty much here's how it works.

When you are in fear of your life. if you need to use a gun, use it, shoot them and call the police.
If you are fearing for your life, and you shoot a warning shot, the general legal response is "If you were scared for your life, you would have shot the other person, Firing a warning shot is a danger to your surroundings, an escalation to the situation, and a threat to the other person"

The most you should ever do to 'deescalate' with a fire arm, is reveal you have one and warn the other person, once you've done this, if you're still in fear, shoot them. Don't start shooting clouds, as you put the ball in the other persons court.
