I agree, they got lucky that Chevron found oil in their country -- I would not also say that makes them in the pockets of Israel because Saudi Arabia has actively worked against them in the Arab-Israeli conflict. The only time we see actual cooperation between the two is in intelligence against Iran and Turkey (who both countries hate).

I am more inclined to believe that Saudi Arabia is just tired of the Palestinians being perennial failures with all the support they have received historically from the Arab League (and historically Russia during the Cold War) where all they have done is just make the region chaotic and destabilized other nations in the progression. Lebanon says hello.
