She-Ra and the Princess of Power - sjw bad animation reboot of shera

This show is apparently "critically acclaimed" and "highly popular".

Am I missing something?

It's woke garbage that panders to the LGBT crowd. Of course it's critically acclaimed. The critics would be alt-right homophobes if they dared say an unkind word about the show. It's popular with Tumblr/Twitter kids and that's all that matters nowadays when it comes to what is supposed to be children's programming.

So, basically, it was never mainstream and wasn't that popular at all. Got it.

Kids show characters don’t need fucking gender identities.
Most of this shit is creators simply stating “head canons” after the shit show even aired, for id pol popularity points.

Shera isn’t Stevenson’s IP, she made a fan fiction of Shera, NuRa, & it’s obvious she landed that show running position due to some janky shit.

These people need help, to get out of their navel gaze hell. They are a bit too gone though, for help. They’ve been duped, but, reality hits back hard.
The gross part is that Stevenson & co are “inspiring” teens to join their BS spiritual belief system, troon religion. To cause harm on the scale they do, is a shit thing. Maybe unforgivable, not sure. It’s certainly harming a lot of young people.

When this trans trend becomes the next mass plastic surgery lawsuit fiasco; and it will, it will die.

I guess that's where I differ from these people.

People like Noelle want to basically produce their ship heavy fan fiction, and I just want more stories of She-Ra saving the day and fighting The Horde.

I guess I'm the nutjob in this scenario, huh?

You're not a nutjob for wanting more stories of She-Ra, but this day and age of nearly only Cal-Arts tumblr artists controlling the U.S. animation studios. It is better to do without any more animated She-Ra stories than what we have now.
Even the non Tumblr rule34 artists could barely salvage anything from NuShe-Ra and and there's not many who could be arsed to bother trying.

The others have covered the bulk of it, but another thing I want to point out is that the SJW crowd was drawn to the character designs, but I don't think they're that great, personally.
Nu-Ra follows something that Lauren Faust figured out in terms of character design, but I'd argue it does it... not so much "poorly" as them sacrificing the idea for wokeness.
To provide some examples of what I mean, let's compare how Faust updated an 80s show vs. Stevenson.

In both shows you have characters which are built on a "template" for ease of animation, but their character designs are meant to convey their personalities, and I think Faust pulled it off rather well. You can see this also in how her original designs for "Super Best Friends":

were translated into the character designs for "DC Super Hero Girls":

Faust has been criticized for not having enough "variety of body types" in her work, and we'll circle back to that later, but I'd argue that Faust also designs around toys and the nature of the show/products she's working on. You can see this in her designs for "Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls" (which was meant to be a toy line)

Now let's look at the new She-Ra. Here's a comparison of the old and new designs:

Ok, there's more variety in the body types and Bow is black now, but for what purpose?
Without seeing the show, and going only by what is presented above, could you answer questions like:
Which character is most gentle-hearted? Who is the most childlike character? What does each character sound like?
See, that is what gets to me.
I'm by no means arguing that the original designs were better. They weren't. They were just different accessory packs for the dolls they were selling, but unlike Faust, all Stevenson seems to have done is make sure all the diversity boxes were ticked then called it a day.

They should make original shows.

Here’s a suggestion: our gay trans non-binary protagonist is trapped in a time loop on prom night, and every episode involves gruesome and horrifying massacres of the prom goers. Including one episode being a parody of Carrie (a bullied kid loses it and dismembers the prom goers with telekinesis Elfen Lied-style) and another being a parody of Cabin Fever 2 (the prom goers are infected with flesh-eating disease by contaminated bottled water and decompose alive). Most of the cast are annoying idiotic assholes, so you don’t feel any sympathy for them. The few sympathetic characters die in the quickest and least painful ways or are the ones doing the killing (like the Carrie and Jason parodies).

Just because we’re all sick of prom episodes doesn’t mean we can’t have fun taking the piss out of prom episodes.

Alot of these trans-trenders that have popped up in the last few years aren't really trans. They are just emotionally broken people who are just desperately trying to be special and leave their mark on the world

A generation of Buffalo Bills. Groovy.

A bit abstract for my tastes, but Faust's better at pushing the stylus around than 99% of the others in the industry today, She won't sell me on fat Supergirl, but she's better at drawing different body shapes than Stevenson, who just seems to adjust the stretch tool in Toonboom along the X axis. Glimmer and Bow have the same cup size FFS.

The only new design that works for me is Adora. The bomber jacket is similar to the original vest and gives her an interesting silhouette, and the new version of She-ra is cute. But the others seems weirdly flat. All the character design is in the outfit, not the face or body shape or silhouette. The originals also rely on sameface to an extent, but they also give them tails and wings and capes that fill up the space better than the dainty wings of Glimmer or Mermista just looking like a normal girl. The Scorpia design had the most effort put into it, but I don't like it better than the original.

I'm a real fan of the show and cannot emphasize it enough. It's easily the best cartoon show of the last decade.

It being a bad SJW reboot like Disney Wars or Nu Ghostbusters is basically just an empty accusation. Watch Steven Universe for SJW crap or DuckTales2017 for a bad reboot.

My favourite character is Catra.

The SJWism is fairly minor. The bigger problems are its general bad writing because the writers had no experience and especially its awful writing of how abusive relationships work. “Enemies to lovers” could potentially be done well, but this wasn’t it.

The mjtanner twins on youtube reviewed every episode and pointed out the issues.

This is why I have a preference for Catra-bashing fics. She’s a HUGE dick, and not the fun kind either.

If I had been born later than I was, then I strongly suspect I would have fallen in with the gender ideology cult myself. I see bits of myself in Stevenson and that’s fucking terrifying. Also, depressing.
Thank goodness I was born in the 70's and had none of these issues in my formative years.
