Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and archive everything. I've done my due diligence and am prepared to evacuate if shit gets utterly out of hand when night falls. Until then, I'm going to hang out on KF and read some Beauty Parlor threads. Cheers, Kiwis.

If you're a white cop in a jogger city you should start leaving. You're gunna start getting thrown to the wolves real quick.

I am anticipating some degree of celebratory looting and violence, but I do expect that Democrats will attempt to clamp down on this to prevent any thing from getting out of control; they gave Chauvin to the mob, but the mob is not allowed to demand anything else except through the system.

Medium term effects- will be lower police enrollment and police retiring early, likely resulting in staffing shortages. For others who do not quit (I expect most police to stay on as the pensions are too lucrative), I do expect less overall law enforcement except on softer targets to fill quotas. Crime will continue to rise as a result of this, and certain antisocial demographics will become emboldened.

Long term effects- If order is not restored, I see a securitization of the home, and fortification of neighborhoods, bringing the US closer to South Africa/Brazil-tiers of urban fortification & white flight. Informal re-segregation may occur as invisible walls reappear, combined with further activist attempts to force equity and integration. Some areas may become completely unpoliced over time as well, while we may see an uptick in suburban/rural living due to the effects of working from home & violence.

I am wondering about the ripples this will have globally- I do expect that it'll have a big impact on other Anglophone countries, but possibly less so beyond that.
