I googled this recently for the Ottawa hospital bariatric surgical program. There's a few hurdles she'll struggle with. The pysch is just one of them. Her THC use is another. In Australia they sneak these drug tests into the usual blood testing, and you need to be clear on all drugs and nicotine for 6 months before you can move from the clinic waitlist to the surgical one.

I'll take my 🌈, but she could actually do this... if she wants it enough. I know many folk that have had disappointing results from WLS due to their own bad habits, but one person definitely surprised me. Of all the folk I know who've had WLS, she would be one everyone expected to have no success. She proved everyone wrong though and went from 450lb to 150lb, and has kept it off for three years so far.

Edit to add: she's showing now just how absolutely clueless she is on bariatric surgery. She's in for a huge shock.
WLS in the public health system is in my wheelhouse, albeit not in Canada, but some things don't change across countries. The optifast liquid diet is for liver shrinking purposes. Two weeks is the minimum. With a fatty liver measuring 29cm (according to her), she'll be doing it a lot longer than that. Some people need to do it for 4-6months. Laproscopic WLS will not be attempted while the liver is still fatty. Surgeons need to lift the liver to get access to the stomach, and a liver full of fat is fragile and breaks when lifted. Even IF she does get approved, they'll be running regular scans on her liver until it is an appropriate size and condition for surgery. They might not require a specific weightloss target, but she'll need to lose a substantial amount of weight to get that liver of hers healthy enough... if she thinks a two week liver shrinking diet it tough, a few months is even tougher...and optifast is disgusting. Gosh, now she's on about drinking juice...her education program is going to bring some rude shocks her way.

The gp only does the referral, it doesn't mean she got approved

The absolutely incessant "shame on you if you can't dance too" has morphed into "shame on you if you go poo-poos." This is definitely is the mature adult that will handle post-fat-surgery instructions well.
 
How much weight will she gain over the next few months now that she thinks she's getting weight loss surgery? 40 or 50 pounds? More than that? Her eating will be completely out of control now that she thinks she's got the magic cure coming up.
 
Yikes at the ever receding hairline. My brothers and I used to call that a peninsula (or peninsulation as the noun form). Hair in the middle surrounded by skin on three sides.

I don't know why it has taken me so long to understand this, but I realize now that Chantal does these stupid "Don't tell me not to eat pizza/what to eat/how to live!" reactions to specifically set up the notion that she is rebelling against all us stuffy normies and our repressive notions that eating one's self to death is a bad idea.

The thing is, no one ever tells her she cannot eat pizza. They simply ask her what gives, she said she was going to stop eating takeout every ten minutes, but here she is, eating takeout in a live, or similar remarks. Sometimes people will voice concern that she may be about to split her colon if she crams another pickle down her throat but she seldom encounters the vehement condemnations of "NO PIZZA FOR YOU CHANTAL, NEVER!" she claims.

So she deliberately misrepresents timid and concerned comments as hater condemnations and attempts to control her eating, to control her, to tell her what to do, and because she is a big, beautful, sassy woman, she ain't gonna be told what to do, no way, nuh huh! She pretends we're out here pizza shaming her, diabetes shaming her, insanity shaming her so she can have yet another excuse to double down on the behaviors that are killing her, all the while imbuing the self-destruction with a sort of sacred rebellion wherein a woman takes control of her destiny, refusing to let the man tell her what to eat and how to live. It's no longer finding lame excuses to eat herself to death - it's a cultural stand against repression each time she gorges.

As for weight loss surgery, she's so fucking sick there's no way she will be approved. You can get a referral to any sort of doctor performing any sort of procedure. But if your liver is the size of a catcher's mitt, if you have raging and uncontrolled diabetes, if you have active rotting infections in your skin, if you have blood clots in your lungs, if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, chances are you may not get the surgery you want. Does she not understand this or does she think that a referral is an approval?

Also mark my words: she will gain at least fifty pounds as she dreams of being a skinny bitch, gorging herself now before the magical gastric bypass makes her the goddess she was always meant to be. She won't be able to walk under her own power in two months. This referral may well mark the end for our increasingly insane Lady of the Pizza Grease.
 
I thought she said life ain't worth living without pizza, is she going to blender the pizza so she can drink it after the bypass?
That will be interesting, pizza shakes and infinite ice cream diet post surgery.

that’s one hell of a grocery stock for someone on a diet, about 24 mini muffins, a mac n cheese loaf, a box of wings, thin Oreos (like that’ll help), lasagna, more chicken, and three of those boxes
