Or did you just take a look at the obvious female before you and assume her sex because duh, she actually looks like a woman? While she looked at the obvious man before her, who is classified as James in database, and assume your sex because duh, you still look like a dude?

Imagine being a stewardess and having this captain start asking you for makeup tips while you have to ignore the raging "gender euphoria" poking through the custom pink uniform he demanded the company let him wear (navy blue makes him dysphoric). What if someone "Sir"s him during flight? Would he pull another Germanwings?

I've spent many years in Thailand, running into transsexuals daily. Since they're so prevalent everybody has their own ways of telling them apart, and since there's a constant influx of new people who haven't been exposed to them before, the methods of telling them apart becomes a pretty frequent topic of discussion.
As we all know there are numerous ways, such as looking at the size of their hands and feet, watching their gait, hearing their voices and so on. But there is one particular trick that I've pioneered myself that I've never heard about from anybody else before.
I just look at their faces and imagine what they would look like if they were bald. Long, thick hair can cover up a lot of manly facial features but if you take the hair out of the equation the answer oftentimes becomes obvious.
In practice this only really applies when looking at photos. In real life it's incredibly rare to see someone and not notice at a glance. It's almost freaky, I remember walking behind one and noticing instantly just from the way their hips moved when they walked. Walked past them and glanced back just to confirm, and sure enough.
I did make a few blunders when I was fresh off the boat, but these days I can't really see that happening. I've asked a few of my Thai friends if they ever, in their lives, have seen a tranny that fooled them and the answers were almost invariably that they never had.
It's interesting that most high-effort trannies go for a type of femininity that can best be described as being a caricature of a real woman. That nasty abomination "Samantha Lux" that's being discussed in this thread is a prime example. I've never been fooled by that type of tranny, but the ones who did slip under my radar were men who didn't make much of an effort but were young and naturally androgynous and as such came across more like tomboys. They just didn't throw up any warning signs, because I'd been so conditioned to look out for extreme femininity that looks uncanny, that when I came across frumpy, tomboyish ones I just didn't even think to look closer.

I think that's quite natural - as has been said already, but the ones that "pass" as in you can pass them on the street and don't immediatly tell is those who aren't drawing attention to themselves - Blaire White is a good example of this. When she's dressed down she actually ends up passing better because she's not dressed as a lizard lot and in clothes that are meant to accentuate feminine features, but ironically ends up accentuating the male ones (there's some wow pictures of Blaire here in a swimming suit clearly meant for women with a certain type of curvy body and ends up showing a very male fridge build). When wearing more neutral clothing that's neither necessarily feminine or masculine those features becomes a bit more obscured.
But troons ultimately love to draw attention to themselves and the AGP types tend to have a certain type of women that gives them "gender euphoria" which is a part of the reason why they don't "pass". Add that people like Nikki will never pass in public because of their size which makes you immidiately take a closer look, just like you'd notice any woman that's 6'3.

I really don't think most trans want you to take them at face value. If you did, someone would say, "Okay, so you don't identify as a woman anymore, in fact you say you're transgender. Well, it was nice knowing you Layshia." Now by the same token, she's not getting transferred to the NBA and she's not on hormones, so it goes to show even (American professional) sports sees gender identity as a charade. The second she puts T in her system is a whole different ballgame though.

That's because he's had a lot of work done and has the money to go to the good doctors. It's not even a secret, he's always been very open about getting fillers in particular. His face isn't as unfortunate as a lot of other troons but he still only managed to fool people for so long because of injections, angles, and the warp tool.

sorry if I'm power leveling... but what do you do when trans shit has invaded your life at the deepest levels? So deep that saying a single word of reason might destroy your relationship with your nuclear family. We do all the 'right' things, measure our car's oil, make sure the toilet isn't growing black mold, even listen to npr. But all around I am surrounded by trans people begging for attention either from within the family or outside. It's detestable.
I'm honestly at a loss. I've tried so hard, but when I've given a ftm the benefit of the doubt, I ended up forcing them out of my house. I'm afraid to give more information due to my circumstances, but a sibling keeps introducing me to more... and for every one or two that are fine, the rest are completely unbearable. Frankly, I feel like cutting off ties, but it hurts too much to lose someone you grew up with.

I heard rumours that Dutch people knew but it didn't really bleed over to the English-speaking beauty spaces. Communities that discuss makeup and things like that are insufferably woke and speaking ill of trannies is verboten, around the time he came out I remember comments being removed for saying they had suspected something. Even saying someone looks like a man as a general insult isn't acceptable, so the discussions that may have outed him sooner weren't allowed to happen. The were frequent comments about how weird and uncanny he looked but that was mostly blamed on photoshop. That said, I don't doubt that some people were surprised.

@Hoi Polloi already touched on this, but I remember when the story broke and r/gendercritical went nuts over it because some spaz posted OMG you guyz this could trigger tall, fat women! The spergout on both sides was hilarious.
Anyway in that thread were a few Dutch people and a few MU people who posted news articles and screenshots from 5 years back where people were openly discussing Nikkie being trans, so it was definitely in the water. I think more savvy observers knew but it wasn’t news at the time so no one cared.
To me he just looks like giant Dutch man baby, like Paul de Leeuw or something. All shiny pink face and giant pumpkin head.
