Nothing I have seen so far has given me the impression that this shit is going to deescalate in any capacity.

Rather, this is merely the prelude to even more insane shit. No matter what happens, the entire country will be completely transformed starting with this event.
 
National guard better do something useful. As someone else mentioned, I'm also a centrist in a deep red state too and I've been observing this stuff in real life and online. It feels out of the blue but yet completely expected.

I'm surprised it even warrants a wikipedia page. It's mostly tourist trivia and a mild convenience so officials don't have to walk or drive through busy streets.
