I'm quite certain if America cared about Venezuelan oil, then the Neocons & Demhawks would have found a reason to invade already. Have you any idea just how invested US petroleum companies were in Venezuela? Very heavily invested, I have friends who were the children executives who grew up there. I believe it's fracking and other sources of sweet crude (ie Nigeria) that are less bothersome/more profitable and the fact were were involved in two foreign occupations and supporting other interventions (ie Syria and Libya) that prevented us from any actions in our Southern Hemisphere. There is also the issue that various countries in South America would lose their shit over a incursion by US forces.
