All the area code maps I can find seem to say that 817 is Ft. Worth/Arlington exclusive, (along with 682) with the neighboring Dallas metroplex using three, 214/469/972.

I was aware those two cities and associated suburbs are pretty much the same area, but, it seems pretty certain that a 817 number isn't Dallas. That seems like a mistake a resident wouldn't make.
