This Sunday DSP's Rage-a-thon is running from 10:15am-7pm or later.

Rage inducing games include:

  • The Quiet Man (FMV Beat 'em up)
  • SFV (Not Old School SF)
  • Jump King (A platformer)
  • Hollow Knight (Dude I love Mega Man)
  • Celeste (A second platformer)
Phil will eat a Skittle from a bag that may contain a gross zombie flavor for $20.

Expect a normal amount of gameplay, next to no rage (Jump King might get real rage), crying about charge backs, an over 2 hour pre-stream and more.

I will be re-streaming this disaster on YouTube and will try to post updates as we switch games during Phil's mini breaks. see you at 10am.

Whats the point of playing 60-90 minutes with a game and then 95% of never playing again?
If I was doing a marathon, I would play 2, maybe 3 games over 12 hours.

TQM: He will hate it.
SFV: He will say he is not raged, but bored.
JK: Quit it after 20mins.
HK: "My audiance dont like metroidvenia games".
C: He will hate it. Isnt this like a hard game?

Not hard, per se, but very precise and fast. There's a lot going on and a lot of things to pay attention to, but once you get the feel for it, it's really fun. There are parts that would probably get a "bad game design" rant outta him, but most of those are later on, in his 60 minute block of it he might make it to the inn, maybe 1/3 through of it.

DSP seems too boring lately to actually rage at anything, I hope I am wrong.

I'd say he's maturing but it's more like he's just getting old.
It's always seemed like he just wanted to get paid since I started following him, but at least there was a point in the past when he was willing to put up something of a facade about it. Now he seems like he's a half-step away from just putting down the controller and demanding he get his $200 before he plays any further, and that's with him having done very nearly that several times already. Whatever he had then he definitely doesn't now. I don't know if that's Leanna and what went along with him having a relationship with a conventionally attractive younger woman, or the lucrative Machinima money train, or the lingering high of having moved out to Seattle, or what. I think it's at least worth noting that, along with many other things, he's lost all three of those. For a man who has a charmed life he's now missing a lot of those things that made it so good.

There's a very personal part of me that still wants to believe that he actually is depressed. Money can help make a person happy but I think having known real want helps with that, which I don't think Phil has experienced to any significant degree or for any length of time. I'd be fucking depressed if my life consisted of turning digital tricks for the same group of idiots while seventy percent of them mocked me to my face and then to log off and eat in silence whatever sad meal my female lifemate slapped together and then later off to kill the rising existential dread by numbing my brain with gin and fleeting fantasies of the last time I was happy going on a decade ago.

All this to say that I think a lot of his reactions now are forced because he doesn't feel much of anything anymore, which makes his rage-a-thons just a test of everyone's patience, himself included. At least he's getting paid.

It's cuz he's comfortable.

Phil getting money = Comfortable Phil = Smug Phil = Boring Phil.

Compare the Phil of today to the Phil of the times around the bankruptcy meetings. He was sweating bullets, thinking that he might lose his house, afraid to talk about anything money-related and banning everything on sight.

Now, with the vest streak and the tard money being thrown at him, he's too comfortable and won't actually be bothered by games. He might get frustrated, since he's a manchild that can't deal with sucking at games, but that's all. He won't actually rage and go on a banning spree.

My guess is that we'll only see a fun-to-watch Phil again if either he: gets divorced; or loses tons of support and has to go into maximum over-begging. Neither of those things are very likely to happen in a short period of time, so... Yeah, boring Phil is all we'll have for quite some time, I'm afraid.

Is CMFool, the guy who always tipped asking Phil to play the Quiet Man, still around? Did some minor paypig actually make a difference like a year later?
Phil's classic gimmick is to play games that people asked for years ago, and then the viewers aren't entertained because the people who wanted said game got banned and left.

YOU ASKED ME TO PLAY THIS!

It's cool he's doing this bullshit and not Among Us which is become a huge fucking success and makes perfect sense for a quote unquote variety streamer since there's no reason to go back to it after 4 hours.
He won't play that game because it requires interaction with people. Even if he didn't use discord and use the chat in the game, he would hate talking to other people. Plus he would make excuses and insult people like "I was not lying and yet they still kicked me out, what a stupid game. these people are dumb, and look we lost all because they didn't believe me. Fuck this game and fuck the people who recommended it."

I've got a smurf account wayyyyy down there in DSP's rank (ultra silver) ready to go, I hope I don't have to do anything tomorrow

Friendly reminder that this was the tallied results for this rageathon:

As you can see Mortal Shell got sent to banworld, so did Mortal Kombat 11 Multiplayer, and Code Vein, and Blasphemous got put on the backburner incase one of the games "isn't fun"... The whole point of a rage-a-thon is to NOT have fun, is it not?
