The funny thing about that accusation is that Doug is willing to be the butt the jokes in his videos. I don't think these ever were.

Lewis did a few times, making fun of what a douche his character could be, but never to the same level and you'd more often have a story segment where he's so amazing.

It's like Shortpacked. David Willis would occasionally do a strip making fun of his ego, but it always came across as insincere since the rest of the strip was all about how superior he was, morally and intellectually, to the evil nerd boys that he got into arguments with on that Transformers website.

I can't say anything about his recent reviews because I stopped watching him a long time ago but back in the day he did do small and indie comics. It's only when he started getting popular that he stuck mainly to DC and Marvel with the occasional forays into lesser known stuff.

But his opinions on said comics were never controversial and always struck me as being "safe". You know, nothing you could really take offense at because he just riffed on them and complained about surface level stuff.

Without a doubt, if Armzy and Lupa didn't start making a stink about Channel Awesome, he'd still happily be there. Guy's a beta through and through.

I've had my problems with Doug in the past, but yeah, at least he sometimes lets himself be made fun of in his own show. He even has a segment in his own show pointing out his mistakes. Linkara takes himself way too seriously, and he comes off as a massive hypocrite.

Linkara markets himself as a devout Christian, yet he joins hands with leftists, SJWs, feminists, basically people who HATE Christianity because of how patriarchal and reactionary its views on sex, women, and family are. He whines about women being objectified in comics, yet if what Iron Liz and Jim/Mr. Metokur said about him is anything to go by, his fetishes are far more "out there" than some men responding to their natural urge to like women with big tits and butts. He joined people in complaining about how unprofessional Doug was in making movies, yet his skits have all the seriousness of Kickassia or To Boldly Flee-sometimes funny, usually just padding.

It's not that he's stupid or anything, the man does have talent. I've seen adults who have a genuine love for comics actually give him thumbs up. It's just that his behavior off-camera and some of the things he does makes him look like a giant tool.
