I'm not sure. The left lies a lot, but it's undeniable people were getting very frustrated with the protests. It's plausible someone got so fed up they decided to do something stupid. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I can't deny this whole thing stinks to high heaven, though. This guy had military training, he should have been able to do some serious damage if that had been his goal.

The large cloud of smoke and low velocity make it appear it was filled with flash powder from fireworks which is standard ANTIFA kit.

A pound of smokeless (modern) gun powder is $20 bucks and far more energetic than that.
 
Apparently some old hippie has been bringing his pet llama to the protests. I don't recall seeing it on stream, though.

I hope the furbaby didn't get teargassed :(

False flag. This dude is legit a glowie. His online presence is staggering, his background is a stupid Tom Clancy novel, he owes someone money, or some agency has dirt on him. None of what he did makes sense. He can clearly make an explosive to harm, and he absolutely knows where to detonate it.

I'll be curious to see if anyone actually investigates this, someone in Loder's twitter thread mentioned the design looked like something they'd previously used to clear airstrips in the sticks of birds. From the video it seemed to be a lot less energetic than an M80.

It's almost like it might not have been designed to be a deadly weapon...

Very plausible. It could be a glowie trying to stop the protests and give the left ammo against the right: that would be two birds with one stone. The left has realized the antifa violence is making them look bad.

The supposed "accomplices" were the actual bombers and probably are unrelated to this dude.

This dude, who they found posted about "infiltrating antifa", saw what happened because he was with them as part of "infiltrating" and got out of dodge like any normal person who was with a group that just got an explosive thrown near them. They interpreted his exit an admission of him throwing it, rather than a speedy exit from a potentially escalating situation.

Or antifa figured out he was a mole because he was dumb enough to post publicly about infiltrating them and now they're trying to pin a crime on him as punishment.

"Maximum sentence" doesn't mean it's the sentence they'll likely get.

Some categories of crime have a large sentencing range, to distinguish the more bagatelle instances from the truly villainous ones.

When someone commits a relatively minor instance of such a crime and gets charged, the media loves to do the "OMG, just for that, he could possibly get [insert maximum sentence]!" clickbait. Whereas in reality, the fact that it's a minor instance is exactly why the sentence won't be on the upper end of that range.

Alternative alternate theory: he didn't do it, but he was with some other dumbass who did throw a firework. They split up to escape and he's the one who got followed.

I have a hard time believing an ex-SEAL with his own tactical security company would try this kind of ineffective op without a mask and an escape route. I can believe he's buddies with some angry guys who are fed up with Antifa and wanted to throw something at them.

(Complete fail dox is more likely though.)
