Creative works you enjoyed until politics happened - "How politics made me hate Welcome to Nightvale and other things"

Why is it always redheads? They do it to other characters too, but it seems like a hard rule nowadays that any redheaded woman character needs to be blackwashed.

My personal take is that it is a passive aggresive dunk on the irish. I noticed the leftists in the USA don't seem to like white minorities very much, like irish, italians or white latinamericans since they tend to not be part of their voting block and mostly remain catholic and conservative so the leftist screen writers and producers don't care if they throw them under the bus and portray them as bumbling idiots, drunks, mobsters, etc or simply wipe them out of the representation olympics to put in their place a character belonging to one of their stereotypical demographics.

i'm just here preemptively to say if the new Sandman series on netflix changes at all to fit modern wokeness i might have to go nasim najafi aghdan on the netflix head offices. it is going to break my heart to see it changed in any way, but if dream is now "woke" im going to have a fit.

The "A Game of You" storyline exists in the original comic. And Desire was androgynous and probably a hermaphrodite because it was never satisfied with one of anything, so expect them to gain "representation" by casting a non-binary actron in that role.

Who will then be cancelled because Desire is vain and selfish and petty and therefore will be accused of being a problematic depiction of enby culture.

Tl;dr - it will be pozzed by current year, I guarantee.

the story was ahead of its time in many ways, and i see how certain aspects that overlap more prominent issues now could make it seem like it's more "woke" than it should be to those who dont understand the original story. my fear, as far as your example, would be if they do shit like make desire not problematic at all to bend to the crybaby masses. casting an enby for any role doesn't really bother me....an actor should be able to act so if an enby has a problem with portraying a cis character they don't deserve a career in acting. desire should absolutely be played by someone who can portray that sultry androgyny. but if they start "fixing" characters to be less problematic or whatever then i'm going to be pissed. i just want them to stay as true to the original as possible, and the original has a lot of diversity and outskirty-type shit in it that can still be applied to today's issues/culture, so there's literally no reason to make it more coherent to today's SJW bullshit. i feel like they will anyways though as you said

Whats more surprising is he is married to Amanda Palmer and she seems like one of those punk radfems that could meetoo him at any moment .
Amanda "freeze-dried Lena Dunham" Palmer is most definitely a libfem (her genderspecial friends ruined a too doxworthy to be named thing for me). Gaiman is also woke. He has a scene in one of his comics where a male troon goes "fuck you, gods, I am a true and honest wamen". On the other hand, he was friends with Harlan and Susan Ellison, so I don't believe he'll cuck out easily. That said, neither do I believe he's never fucked a teen goth groupie.

Hate to break it to you but it most certainly will be pozzed out the ass. It's a reimagining of Sandman written for 2020 with not only Gaimans blessing but his involvement. It's what made him interested in it the first place and why he approved of it being made.

These two podcasts I used to like, We Hate Movies and The Dollop, had a similar descent into woke politics. The Dollop is about funny or strange stories from American history so it was inevitable that some politics would get brought up, but the occasional "hur dur white people amirite?" got more and more frequent. That being said, their "Cereal Men" episode is an absolute blast and I still recommend listening to it.

We Hate Movies spent one of their Academy Awards episodes bitching about #oscarssowhite, and the one person in the comments who said "I want to hear you talk about movies not politics" got dogpiled with "get out racist Trump supporter reeeee!"

Lot of people are saying Star Wars... I have never seen any Star Wars film ever and the closest I got was falling asleep during the opening scene, everytime. Fuck Star Wars

See the book Lovecraft Country.

Got it for free when I was subbed to audibles.

The protagonist is black and is traveling through the United States for research on the Green Book, updating it as necessary. Alright, original concept and a good vehicle for why they are going from point A to point B and getting into their adventures.

But every goddamn story is "what's worst then cosmic horrors beyond our comprehension? Then the nihilistic dread of realization we are a speck of dust floating in a giant uncaring universe? Then alien Gods and their worshippers far advance then us?

Racism.

I think the current Hollywood houseboy Jordan Peele is making a movie based on it because of course.
Apparently he did it as a tv series. Checking tv tropes for a quick rundown and...

This could be great in the original book but I don't trust current hollywood in the slightest to make it not feel like a damn anvil to the groin.

The original concept is interesting and if today's political climate towards race wasn't so hot I'd give it a go to see how well it did (some of the plot points seem fine with race and mythos, but I prefer more focus on the mythos), but Hollywood's interpretation will probably be awful if Peele doesn't have his heart in it. Not to mention people will either recommend it to me over and over or will reeee that I like the mythos still in the first place. I just want to enjoy my shitty lovecraftian horrors in peace....
I like lovecraftian horror and works based on it too much to be ruined FOREVER on it if push comes to shove. I just don't look forward to a year of people annoying me and others in the fandom.

Ngl i thought it was just because there was a trend in the black community to go for various shades of res hair after a few black stars pulled off the look. That and redhead on black looks striking and bold and nothing really malicious, just an attempt to surprise the audience(now failing because of overuse).

I watched The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018 sequel to "The girl with the dragon tattoo") a while back and it was bizarre. Spoilers. That was a piece of shit sequel that made no sense in comparison to the original. The protagonist was converted into a woke lesbian, her whole plot revolves around her sister (antagonist, who never was mentioned nor existed in the original film), said sister, who is trying to assassinate her for some strange reasons, including "revenge" for being "abandoned" by her during their teen years. The sister was living with their father (also not mentioned in the original) who was a torturous pedophile that hated women for some reason. The girl with the dragon tattoo had escaped the father. The whole movie revolves around the sisters trying to kill, and then not kill each other, because men are bad and brainwashed them. They describe the movie as though it's a cool spy film but it really isn't. It's a creepy message about men being evil. It's all so tiresome.

Netflix Death Note is another Netflix murder. It's semi woke I suppose, more of a victim of wokeness than highly political in and of itself. NF set a terrible precedent about what directors can get away with. They take a film set in Japan, convert it to America, and make the characters white and black instead of their original races. Then completely change the characters personalities. Just flipped them on their heads. The white kid, Light, protagonist went from a calculating, all-star student genius (in the manga) to a crying emo fuck up. Black kid, L, antagonist is converted from a genius to a retarded autistic savant, and his character also sucks, but is kind of a Gary Stu. The writing is shit in every way, but seemed to go way hard on taking the protagonist from an evil genius down to a crybaby moron after race washing all the Japanese out of the film.

A couple podcasts I used to listen to have gotten insufferable.

Last Podcast on the Left has already been mentioned, and for good reason. The guys used to be able to joke around (the voice Henry did for Charles Ng making him sound like a stereotypical chink, making Gacy sound like a sissy fag ect...) would never fly today because they've gone woke. For a bunch of satanists and Ben supposedly being a libertarian, you'd think they'd be more open to the idea of "it's just jokes, just words. If you don't like it, fuck off and listen to another show" mentality, nope, they're towing the far left line constantly in their newer episodes.

The Simpsons Show Podcast was one I used to listen to when falling asleep, just two guys talking about how much they like the old episodes. One guy, Robbie is alright, you can tell he leans left, but he keeps politics to himself. The other guy, Matt is such an insufferable faggot. Constantly "white people bad! Republicans evil! Republican fans stupid! Gun owners are rednecks! Christians are evil!" Even has Lisa as his favorite character. Robbie constantly has to tard wrangle him to stop sperging out. What should have been a chill, friendly show just turned into an irritating slog because woke retards can't just shutup and enjoy something.

LPoTl has been declining for a long time, more than them becoming woke i really thought of it as them becoming boring and their content becoming stale. They just felt into a routine and deliver the same uninspired bits of it every episode specially since they started getting sponsorships.

Coincidentally theres also a Simpsons podcast in spanish i used to listen to sometimes, the host are two argentinians but more and more they let their own peronism an current year virtue signaling seep into it. Is ironic because they complain about newer simpsons for doing the same lame bits they do.

You would think that...

But you’d be wrong. It’s funny how the King of the Edgelords is a whiny politisperg with TDS.
It's correct for multiple past edge lords. I originally thought it was because they grew older and didn't understand that the whole "freedom of speech" moved to the other point of the aisle. But now I think it's more because they were cowards who knew they could tell their edgy jokes to their audience without real risk (the whole fear of the religeous right was insanely exaggerated) and stopped the millisecond they knew their peers won't respect those jokes.

Why is it always redheads? They do it to other characters too, but it seems like a hard rule nowadays that any redheaded woman character needs to be blackwashed.
A good theory I heard is that red haired women are usually more direct and spicy, which is obviously a black trait so it's racist to let non-black women have that personality.
I'm pretty sure SJW's have already REEE'd a bit because bisexuals are most frequently mentioned in relation to Slaanesh and hermaphrodites are only mentioned in relation to Slaanesh. But that's more of a consequence of Slaanesh being a literal sex god in a setting where sex and sexuality are otherwise almost never mentioned.

I would say that the Imperium is still pretty clearly right wing. SJW's big problem with it is that it portrays a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship with fascist elements (although not fully fascist) as something more nuanced than a pack of mustache twirling villains. Of course on the other side you've got autistic knuckle dragging weirdos who white knight for the Imperium to an obnoxious degree and act like the Emperor is a replacement for their absentee father or something. I hate to pull the "both sides" argument, but it's clear that there are people on both sides who don't get nuance.

Far left is more represented by the Tau, who, even though they've got a dark side that's getting progressively darker as they get more development, still get off relatively lightly in their depiction compared to the Imperium. But the Tau have also been around for far less time and gotten far less attention than the Imperium.
While it might have started that way, the imperium isn't really any real politics, being lead by massive bureaucratic bodies who constantly fight one another rather than some real unified religeous or social ideal, not really caring for anything as long as their tiths are paid. The individual worlds themselves can be any political idea the author want without any contradiction in the lore.
Regardless, trying to pin a bad label on the imperium nowdays is self-defeating since the lore makes it blatantly obvious that it going down will doom humanity with it, since there are multiple external threats that only the meatgrinder that is the Imperial Guard can fight.

It's sad, because I used to listen to them even though I practice a religion they despise because they were funny. Henry dunking on Mark Twitchell and Israel Keyes were my favourite re-listens. And Markus did a lot of research, which was nice. But then everything started sliding downhill.

For me, I know you can read older books, but there is a certain amount of times you can re-read Tolkien before you crave something new. I love Fantasy, but it's getting harder and harder to find anything to enjoy Post-2016 because, well, leftist Americans can never stop making things about themselves you know? Canadian literature is pure shit, always has been, but you could go to the store and get something interesting in the Fantasy section when Americans put out new stuff. Now days, it's like Americans want to meet Canadians in level of diversity-tier shit and whinging and smelling their own farts for doing so.

I use goodreads to look up reviews to see how woke a book is, despite goodreads being shit because it really gives away the quality. If the top comment isn't some 'Queer BIPOC' crying over 'Representation' and YAS QUEEN, then I may look further into it as a legitimate read. These days, that selection has gone down considerably because Fantasy is no longer about the adventure or worldbuilding, or fantastical situations. It's how black and gay you are. Like fuck off.

Bit late to this, but I'll throw in.
Pixar movies, but more the fans (adult ones that is) I think than the movies themselves. Most Pixar stuff is essentially things like 'hey a rat controlling a chef would be funny to watch' or 'kids like cars, how about cars with eyes that can talk' and so on. I still like their movies that are coming out, but it does feel like fans are getting too obsessed with ideas of LGBT characters (two women out together with a baby? They must be gay!!!) and random headcanons (Mrs Incredible is a lesbian because she waves at a woman in a car) which really ruin the enjoyment, plus they are still kids movies technically, so its just dumb to keep pushing for certain things when kids wouldn't care either way. Onward did have the announcement of them adding an official LGBT character, who was in it for a total of 5 minutes or so, but it didn't feel too shoehorned in, and the characters sole personality wasn't that she was gay, but it just felt a bit dumb to make such fanfare about it (again, kids movie, kids don't care).

I did like watching American Horror Story back in the early seasons, when the focus was mostly horror, but once it hit season 7 (Cult) it got far too political for me. The earlier seasons touched on social issues and the like, but that season took the idea of Trump becoming president and ran with it far too much. A guy covering his face in wet cheetos is not scary, its dumb, and I was saddened that the concept of cults and exploring that was wasted on people hyperventilating over Trump and needing safe spaces. I only got partway through, and haven't watched any of the later seasons past that one, so no idea if they got worse or better.
