So, while I was doing my previous posts [

2] about Mariah's past, I found some of her old content that give us an insight about her relationship with her father. Not that her meteoric descent to the depths of depravity still in her early 20s wasn't in itself a sign of not having a present and loving father in her life -- AKA "Daddy Issues" -- but it seems Mr. Mallad had a lot to do with his daughter choosing such an undignified fate:

"And when you see your dad and run to hug him cause he ignored all your calls for 14 days [...] then he just pats your back and says 'get off' and ignores you the rest of the night"

"Even though I loathe everyday, I must wake up and train and listen to my father demoralize me as usual, no matter what I do"

"....he said if I argue with him he's never talking to me again; and yet he just got done with fighting with my sister to get a shirt that doesn't show off her fat"

"He goes on and on about how I'm a idiot and I'm pulling something to get by grades, that I'm not smart and all this shit"

"My father's smile. That's my reward. [...] Because I know... all his effort is showing. Because I am finally doing something right! Everytime he says, 'Yes, like that' I know I'm bettering myself"
So he was mostly absent from her life (at some point, he even separated from Mariah's mother and got married to a younger woman in Lebanon, only to eventually go back to his previous wife), made Mariah and her sister compete with each other for his attention, withheld affection from them for being "fat", encouraged them only when they exercised, and never acknowledged any of Mariah's accomplishments that didn't involve his own interests (he was a bodybuilder).
Not that Mariah needs to be defended (she's nasty on her own, and is old and financially independent enough to seek psychological help; her sister seems to be mostly normal, though abusive parents sometimes treat one of their children better than the other), but I really think that it can't be understated how much Mr. Mallad failed as a father and deserves the humiliation brought by his daughter Mariah.
