I guess it is possible that he is dressed so inappropriately for his age that someone thinks surely this cannot be a functional adult. And since they don't want to ask if Zach is a retard sibling, they just go with daughter because that is less likely to offend. Or maybe it's the fact that he shows zero affection towards her and seems sullen and bored like a teenager while he's with her.

There is no way any of those are true. How many of you have been out with your actual parent and had some ask if you were their child? I can't think of it happen in anytime after being 18.
