Memes that you’re glad are dead

Candlejack was a shitty and annoying meme based off a shitty and annoying character and I'm still buttmad that for some reason it was the one gimmick posting meme that everyone obeyed the rules of. I don't know if mods were editing people's posts or what, but I swear I only saw somebody break the rules on a Candlejack thread like twice.

Freakazoid was a missed opportunity of a show, and people needed to get the fuck over that.

Curb your enthusiasm theme. I'm not sure it's dead, but it clearly goes down in terms of popularity. Hope it is happening because of how unoriginal it has become.

There's a hardcore server on Sven Coop that i play that has a chat sound list, and people would always trigger the curb your enthusiasm theme when someone would die after like 30 minutes of being the last survivor with no checkpoints.

it was actually pretty damn funny

Early Internet flash shit was definitely cringeworthy. Remember Salad Fingers? There was also that really stupid squirrel and that goth woman that was exceptionally poorly animated, can’t remember the name of that series (Foamy?) but it was all over t-shirts about 15-20 years ago, like Invader Zim.

I had an extremely mentally unstable ex girlfriend who thought Foamy was her spirit animal and memorised all his lines. Three weeks after we broke up she got engaged to some marfanoid-looking South African computer toucher, apparently she knew he was "the one" because he wore a Foamy t-shirt to their first date. Their marriage lasted as long as it took for him to get the residency status he wanted.

Bronies. And I can't believe I'm the first person to say this on this thread.

Other memes I hated that are thankfully dead are Carameldansen (I don't even give a shit if I misspelled it), took an arrow to the knee, Damn Daniel, Bowsette, Ugandan Knuckles, "manga, anime, Netflix Adaptation", Desu, nico nico ni, Big Chungus, tiktok, vine, and most likely a lot more created by weebs and the 2010s.

Memes and trends I wish would die already include Know Your Meme trying to turn fetishes and controversies into memes, the consumer fetishism that normies do to appear "OMG SO GEEKY XD!", emojis, smug animu girls for avatars, "ironic" weebs, fortnite, minions, and hashtag movements in general.

A lot of those aren't even dead yet.

Disney really missed the boat by not having Yoda merchandise ready to ship out in time for last Christmas.
I laughed my ass off when this came to light. It’s such an obvious blunder that shows how they traded creative care for Star Wars as a property for cynical corporate brand management, and in the end couldn’t even manage that either because Disney is fucking exceptional.

Back on topic, I’m glad I don’t see the Pulp Fiction confused Travolta meme anymore. I’ll give a lot of dumb shit a chuckle on first read, but even from day one it was so painfully boring and unfunny that I’m genuinely perplexed at how is stuck around for so long.

Even when Disney does something successful with Star Wars, they fuck it up.

I wouldn't really say bronies are exactly "living". At most, it appears to be cow sites like TV Tropes and 4Chan's /trash/ desperately trying to keep it alive.
In a way, I would compare several of the stuff I mentioned to something like the Nostalgia Critic and Tumblr; not dead, but on serious life support.

Here’s another meme I’m glad is dead: SHOCK VIDEOS.

Sometimes, I miss the days of goatse and rickrolling unsuspecting Intarwebs newbs. Or spam fucking an AOL chatroom just for shits and giggles.

And I have no idea what the fuck these type memes were called, but they were horribly annoying and seem to have died a natural death.

It's called the Nordic Gamer meme. And yeah, most of them are terrible and masturbatory, but there are a few gems.

The Nordic Gamer me is not that bad if you can use it well, but just like the Virgin-Chad, NPC, Clown World, -oomer etc. memes it always devolves into another shitty "I'm right and you're wrong" format. Wanna have an argument? Post a Nordic Gamer haha so funny totally OWNED that argument.

It being a recycling of the 2016 era Nordic/Mediterranean meme and pairing with the Tradwife Wojak edit, which is also a rehash of the /r9k/-GF and Christ-chan meme pretty much holds it down.

Was it a White or Black South African?
