Its amazing to me that these people can't seem to understand why other people aren't taking delight in bad things happening to other people and when shown examples of how other people express things like understanding and empathy they take it as a personal attack.

Most people probably don't care that it was a millionaire or PDP they just hear that someone got robbed and go "that sucks" then look over and see this artist taking delight at it and know that artist is probably petty and spiteful.

Its also funny to me that they're basically saying that anyone with any kind of following isn't allowed to express any opinions because their fans might also express opinions while this whole thing started with the artist expressing their opinion on PDP.

I haven't seen any indication that the vast majority of people replying to this cartoon even knew it was PewDiePie or that he is on a list of people that it is obligatory to scream in hatred at.

The comic apparently came out very shortly after PdP announced that they'd experienced a burglary, so it's either a direct jab at him, or so coincidental as to be unbelievable.

I think my favorite part is how the artist was trying to draw New Guy to look like this dumb, ugly, repulsive troglodyte compared to it's Mary Sue and accidentally making him look more lovable than ever because of it like Soos or Bill Dauterive

It's just her self-insert "owning" a strawman, with the message being that it's okay for her to be shitty to what she deems acceptable targets, and people who disagree are dumb. It's pure self indulgence. The only joke is how hard this has backfired on her, and everyone seems to love it.

The thing about New Guy is it perfectly captures the issue with how social media addicts see the world. They’ve curated their perspective to the point that they are presenting a perfectly normal reaction to someone suffering a burglary as strange and bizarre because to them it is. I guarantee you, every salty reaction to the new guy meme has made hundreds of thousands of posts and has devoted heaps of time and energy seething at PDP. They probably knew about the burglary before half his fans did because they hate-stalk his feed looking for wrongthink to spread on r/transcommunists for e-headpats.
