Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

Vic was targeted by chance due to the braindead pull moron confusing him with someone else. The Funi clique took that as a reason to get rid of him, as he was about to get a producer/director job and he'd likely want them to be more professional, harder working and they couldn't be as lazy anymore (see bitching about Vic wanting extra takes). It's the reason why Monica's story is the jellybean story in the investigation, and not the super rape she came up with later after realising her #metoo wasn't strong enough.
This tweet of hers resulted in a huge discussion about Vic, which she participated in.

About 6 hours later, she tweeted this.

Going with this “user on PULL confusing Vic with another person” thing, if we had somebody other than Chupp who’d do their job, would this screw the defendants because they acted on this part and part of defamation/libel is “reckless disregard for the truth”?

Yes, Monica dated the guy in question, and he had worked for Funimation. Both of those should have know the story relating to Vic is false. Knowing the falsity of it means they acted in Malice.

New Docs:
"PLAINTIFF’S RESPONSE AND OBJECTIONS TO MONICA RIAL AND RON TOYE’S BRIEF IN SUPPORT OF SANCTIONS AND ATTORNEYS’ FEES PURSUANT TO THE TEXAS CITIZENS PARTICIPATION ACT "
"PLAINTIFF’S RESPONSE AND OBJECTIONS TO DEFENDANT FUNIMATION PRODUCTIONS, LLC’S MOTION FOR REASONABLE ATTORNEY’S FEES, COSTS AND SANCTIONS "

Apologies for the all caps. Copy paste from the docs.

Edit: "The excessive fees come as no surprise after Mr. Lemoine stated his intention to ‘go after Plaintiff’s GoFundMe account’, which holds a remarkably similar amount. Defendants have conjured this figure for their fees and use block billing to hide their misdeeds "

Oh snap!

I actually lol'ed. This is like saying "I'm sorry you are suffering the consequences of your own actions"

@DinkyCowSow - that was brought up already earlier. The sanctions was changed from "shall" to "may" because you could be awarded $1.00 as a nominal sanction, which was just silly.

Edit: I just read through the sanctions filings, and they're pretty good. Very straightforward. I'm actually surprised that Lemoine's comment that "the Plaintiff's filings may not have been frivolous, they just didn't meet their burden" was not included as proof that the defendant clearly knows it wasnt.

I'm one of those people that had no clue who any of these people are until the lawsuit began to materialize so I don't know enough about him as a person to make any conclusions. It's all lolsuit for me. Good place to be so you can laugh at both sides.

Case in point- I had THOUGHT she said something clearly per se defamatory but then when I made the mistake of reviewing some 'news articles' they didn't mention that tweet. Charitably they didn't want to reproduce a libelous statement; less charitably, they didn't want to inform readers of just how ridiculously defamatory her statements were.

It's hard to imagine anything more damaging to one's reputation than being called a pedophile. That's why you don't have to prove monetary damages. And yet she can make these statements and not get pulled into a lawsuit where others are getting included for much less in the way of smearing. I don't know the context of that particular tweet, maybe it wasn't specific enough in identifying Vic.
Per se defamation mean damages are assumed, but if you want to get any money out of a lawsuit you need to have an account of actual monetary damages, yes Vic could sue Marzgirl and all the other nobodies that called him a criminal just to cost them money and make them suffer but for what we can see of him he is not that kind of person.

That is why those targets are probably not likely to be sued, same thing with T Greg, since he doesn't have any money suing him would be meaningless, in a cost/benefit analysis it's just not worth it.

Same with Hanlei you would need to prove someone out there who matters considered Hanleis opinion worthwhile and that Vic got damaged as a result. It's like Vic said in his deposition brain dead idiots have always talked shit about him, and it didn't matter, the reason why the Defendants are being sued is because
1. They have money, Funimation having the greatest amount.
2. They have actively interfered with Vic getting work.
3. Marchi and Rial are friends, being separate parties in a lawsuit is hell for any relationship, that is probably why Rial and Toye have been working as a singular party. If appeals court decides this passes at trial for all defendants Marchi and Rial will get into a prisoners dilemma, where they would have to trust each other, and Marchi already proved she is more pragmatic when it comes to many than Monica.

Expecting Anyone to be sue just got telling bad things about Vic is Hopeful at best, they would need to have been complicit in the conspiracy part or something like that for being halfway decent litigation targets.

Technically the courts had even allowed giving 0 dollars in sanctions previously.

Nominal sanctions are actually still a thing elsewhere, including in defamation laws. For instance, in defamation per se cases if the plaintiff does not provide enough evidence of actual harm, juries often award 1$ in nominal damages.

Hold the fuck on? Did the defendants try to use the GFM to investigate Douchette's bankruptcy? Screenshot_20191121-093913.png

Or wait, what if the reason Douchette is sperging for them is because this is his way of paying wheezy for help with his bankruptcy? PROJECTION MUCH?
