USA Powerlifting Addresses Derogatory Claims on Social Media
It has recently come to the attention of USA Powerlifting that the company Fear Her Fight Athletics, LLC (FHFA) has made derogatory remarks about the organization on social media outlets.
FHFA’s claims that USA Powerlifting is a white supremacy organization, are patently false. These claims are dangerous not only to every member of USA Powerlifting, but also in minimizing the struggles of those who face actual white supremacy every day. These claims and the subsequent other slanderous assertions made by FHFA exemplify the primary reason behind the Executive Committee’s decision to deny any association with USA Powerlifting.
Furthermore, claims from FHFA that they were “a national sponsor” are also false. FHFA engaged with the independent meet director of the 2018 Raw National Championships in a contractual obligation between both parties. FHFA was in no direct relationship with USA Powerlifting nor did it ever provide monetary sponsorship to the organization directly or indirectly. USA Powerlifting’s national sponsors are clearly differentiated from any sponsors associated with individual meet directors.
In no way was FHFA ever associated with USA Powerlifting in an official business relationship or in any capacity.
It is the sole right of USA Powerlifting to do business with those vendors, entities, businesses, and organizations that it sees fit. FHFA has made it abundantly clear through its communications that it is a politically positioned organization that will resort to bullying, name calling, personal attacks, and invoke unsubstantiated claims that slander and damage USA Powerlifting.
For those reasons, USA Powerlifting chooses to not be associated in any capacity with FHFA nor any other company whose actions and communications yield such derogatory .
USA Powerlifting is an organization comprised of individuals from all walks of life. The diversity and varying viewpoints and opinions are appreciated and respected. However, slanderous attacks, promises of retribution, ad-hominem attacks on members, staff and organization as a whole will not be tolerated.
