Nyahko says she has gaps in her memory around that time due to a traumatic brain injury that occurred months after the incident and has trouble remembering things. She can't recall the name of the convention or the hotel where it happened. She says it would have been about 2006 or 2007 and that it happened over her summer break.

The middle of Winter is as far from Summer break as you can get.

funimation has in the past acted as a local agent for Toei regardinging copyright claims, altho agreed that there are limits on how far they specifically can take it. Personally I'd find it a whole lot funnier if Toei were directly giving Vic stuff to promote their film. I don't honestly believe Toei will strong arm funimation or pull any licenses, but I can totally believe they'd pull a bunch of passive aggressive things like giving Vic permission to promote Broly and cock-blocking any attempts to stop him.

Early on, I figured that this was a way for Rial to directly ingratiate herself into the fandom. The trolling is far too low effort, and IIRC, that account minecrafted itself in a matter of days. This was also days before the controversy started and ramped up. Trolls aren't exactly wont to, off the cuff, try to instigate whole movements. Not because they wouldn't, but because it's too much efforts for their immediate goals.
If someone had the archives for those posts, perhaps we'd discover that the pfp of Rial's "interlocutor" was a stock photo. Rial's responses are palpably phoned-in, too.
