Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I really liked Hitman: Absolution.
I think Pokemon games are overvalued by people wearing nostalgia goggles.
Dark Souls was okay, Dragon's Dogma was better.

I reaaaallly love water and ice levels in games. Yeah the mechanics can be a pain in the ass but they always look so cool :heart-full:

Final Fantasy 6 is just as overrated and hyped as FF7, with some people liking it out of ether extremely blind nostalgia, overlooking the buggy and badly aged parts of the game or becasue they don't like FF7 and they wanna be one of the kool kidz by proclaiming FF6 as the greatest even if they haven't played it, Also Kefka fans are as annoying as Sephiroth tards. And just so you know this is coming from a person that likes FF6, it's just the fans are that annoying.

Let's see...

Gold/Silver/Crystal was the worst generation of Pokemon. Worse than the originals. The level curve, especially early on, is obnoxious and Johto was pretty bare-bones so we could get a stripped-down Kanto. The remakes made the game more interesting, but the originals just aren't that fun to me compared to the other games in the series.

With the exception of Sonic 06, the newer Sonic games aren't that bad (edit: I haven't played Sonic Boom). Even Shadow wasn't that bad of a game, it just had a god-awful story. Most of them have at least something redeemable about them. Also, SA1 is better than SA2.

Brawl > Melee. But SSB4 > both of them.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories is my second favourite in the series, after SH2. It may not have been very scary, but the level of immersion and attention to detail is fantastic. It also helps that it actually has good voice acting for once. Also, despite having an interesting premise SH4 is kind of crap.

Edit: Ooh, here's an opinion that will probably get me shanked. I love the whole Mother series, but I find Earthbound to be the weakest. It's not bad, but its pacing isn't very good and most of the dungeons are annoying and tedious. Mother 1 may have worse gameplay, but it has an excuse because it's so old. When modded, I like it a lot more than Earthbound. Mother 3 blows them both out of the water, though.

Yeah I agree with you for the most part. Earthbound's a good game, but it's not my favourite, and Mother 1 is more fun modded because the difficulty can get INTENSE and Mother 3 felt like the one game that I could relate to the most (and it has a more serious tone to it, rather than saving the dark and moody stuff 'till the last act of the game).

I don't believe SH2 is a masterpiece. I can see why people like it, but I don't feel like it's as revolutionary as people claim it to be (like Earthbound).

The Backburner from TF2 is awesome.

There! I said it!

I used to be part of the Backburner is for scrub Pyros bandwagon, but thinking about it now, I think the hate is exaggerated. Yes, the Degreaser is better for overall defense and supporting your team, and I usually play that kind of Pyro. Today though, I decided to actually try playing a Pyro that tries to ambush people with the Backburner, and it's actually kinda refreshing.

Yeah, I realize that playing Backburner Pyro means I'm more limited with my airblast, but hey, TF2's weapons all have some kind of drawback for the most part. Some not as bad as others of course.

Backburner is the greatest weapon. It used to go well with the axetinguisher.

Yeah, I noticed the axetinguisher got nerfed. I wasn't too happy about it initially, but thinking about it now, it does seem to encourage me to use some of the other Pyro's tools. Which I can appreciate somewhat.

I'm actually trying out Pyrosharking, interesting way of going around the Pyro's limitations in the water.

The backburner used to be a fairly useless weapon in more competitive play because it originally lacked the airblast entirely. And competitive pyro players need the airblast because without it you're basically useless to demomen and soldiers. Which are usually the most skilled enemy players.

Then Valve buffed it to give it relevancy and they made the Phlog the "noob" weapon.

The Backburner has more relevancy now that the axtinguisher is nerfed. So there's less reason to use the Degreaser/Axtinguisher combo, unless you wanna do it with the flare gun instead. I remember back when I stopped playing TF2 I heard after the axtinguisher nerf a lot of "professional" players that play in Highlander tournaments for TF2 went back to the stock flamethrower altogether.

Speaking of buffs and nerfs, I've read somewhere that the Heavy got slightly nerfed somewhere last year. Something about the full damage and speed of his miniguns taking an extra second longer to kick in now I think?

Personally, I don't really feel that much of a difference. But I have seen quite a few people that aren't happy about it. I mean, I guess it would make sense, one second can make a huge difference in a game like TF2.

-Dragon Quest is better than Final Fantasy and I would say still the king of JRPG's. I am a massive fanboy, though.
-Also not a huge fan of the SMT I've played. The battle system is great, but the lack of exploration and repetitive dungeon crawling really kills it for me.
-For the life of me I cannot get into Xenoblade's battle system, which is a shame because it really is a superbly designed game.
-N64 was a pretty good console and it hasn't dated as poorly as the PS1. Not as good of a library to be sure, but the hardware is infinitely superior. Most 3D PS1 games are an eyesore to replay to the extent where it is difficult to tell what's going on, while most N64 games still look okay and some amazing.
-PC master race isn't really all that masterful.

I haven't played Pokemon Red/Blue in 13 years but I honestly don't know why Bulbasaur is considered bad. He was my first pick and throughout the game, he was my strongest pokemon alongside :snorlax:.

I normally hate ridiculously hard games but I actually loved the brutality of Earthbound Zero/Mother 1. Even at high levels, you can still get your ass handed to you by a fembot when she uses PK Freeze Gamma. Then there's the whole Mt Itoi segment. I remember not bothering to find the Sea Pendant when I had EVE on the team so I had to climb the WHOLE mountain again just to get it. I usually have difficulty finishing RPGs but this one I finished in a week because of how hilarious and fun it was.

Fun fact about Mt. Itoi: the reason it's so brutally difficult is that it was being developed very close to the release date, and they were busting their asses to finish the last bit of the game in time. All the rushing resulted in them not having time to properly balance the difficulty or the programming of the monsters, so on Mt. Itoi you can end up fighting like 5 of the strongest enemies in the game all at once and they can slaughter you in a few seconds with their insanely strong attacks.

Bulbasaur isn't considered "bad". It's more so considered a crutch since it's essentially playing the game on Easy mode. Wheras Squirtle forces you to train a partner to fight Misty and later Surge. And Charmander forces you to raise one for Brock.
