Exactly this. While there is likely drug/alcohol abuse going on, this is at the epicenter of what makes and will inevitably break Ethan Ralph: His precious ego. One thing I noticed in listening to TRR was his very persistent tendency to sound reasonable by admitting he could be wrong. Admitting he isn't perfect. Those efforts are a feint. It is a strategy he has developed over the years as a means of coping with his phenomenally fragile ego. He had a buffer zone in devotees like Zidan and Gaytor who would play along, but they are gone now, as are so many others who might have been willing to help maintain the facade (Flamenco being the most obvious and recent casualty). Without that buffer to reinforce the feint, his fragility is laid bare and he's forced to flounder because no matter how wrong and pathetic he knows he is, his fragility cannot and will not allow him to concede.

I was trying to compare Ralph's fall from grace with Tonka's and I think the one major difference is that as Tonka went off the deep end, people just pointed and laughed at him while telling him to stfu with the fake alpha male ibs shit. I’m really curious to how the dynamic of this marriage works, because I can’t imagine a man like Ralph, who constantly lashes out at others to compensate for his insecurities, coping well with the fact that his partner is infinitely more valuable to society and successful as well in the long-term.

Maybe, but in terms of "brand recognition" (as gay as that sounds) Metokur and Dame have better reputations with random "internet people" (to borrow the Dongaism). In gunt-logic that makes Josh more ok to shit on without as much backlash from his immediate audience.
