No. People aren't talking about it anymore either. I follow a popufur that was pretty vocal about this, retweeting loads of shit when it hit and they've been silent on it for over a week now. They just talk about school now.

It takes a lot for furries to leave the fandom, let alone care about drama. It's a shitstorm every week. People fucking dogs doesn't stop them from getting their porn, so they don't care. The only thing you'll find furries actually caring about is things like SOPA/Net Neutrality/etc because "muh internets(muh porn in actuality)".

Not to sound argumentative, but I guess my question is what do we want from anti-zoo popufurs now, like at this point? Even a few very popufur people spoke out and one particularly (probably the same one you're talking about) spoke about it A LOT for a little while there, but do you want them to speak out about it just...continuously forever? Without the momentum of more people, there's only so much one person can do before you just look like you're obsessed or projecting.

Eventually the more you continue saying the same things over and over again you lose general relevancy, folks are still murdering other people in the world despite the prevailing morality being "don't murder people".

Genuine question tho, not being (intentionally) exceptional.

unless there is a targeted effort to consolidate and centralize the attention of the furry fandom and mobilize as many as possible into stomping out legitimate criminal activity, it's just not going to happen, and the majority of furries will not give a shit as long as they're getting their porn.

I find this very unsettling because that's a banner for Radio Comix in the background of that photograph. They are/were one of the premiere publishers of anthropomorphic comics in the 1990's after they split from Antarctic Press. Yeah, they printed adult stuff but (and this will sound dumb I know) it was more or less the "tasteful" side of that kind of content. I can't tell if this is a comic book that is being sold at their booth or whatever because I don't know if this guy is standing in a neighboring booth or if he bought it elsewhere and is just taking a candid picture.

I can't find anything in Radio Comix's catalog that starts with "A Boy's Guide", and nothing that is legible in that picture returns any meaningful google results, not even the author (I'm assuming that's a pseudonym).

I would like to imagine one of my favorite comic book publishers hasn't stooped to selling this kind of borderline illegal trash.

It's telling a mildly prominent member of a nebulous community that they're responsible for a group that's WAY bigger than their fanbase and if they fail it's because those specific people didn't do a good enough job, not that the task is just impossible to do on your own. Not to say they shouldn't try, they absolutely fucking should, but I just am not surprised in the least that the community at large has simply moved on.

You don't need a leader to accomplish this either, you just need people to react viscerally to the reprehensible shit. Trouble is there's so much propaganda and brainwashing that takes place in order to force people to feel comfortable with what's going on around them. It's difficult to find people to react as they would if they just didn't care about the temporary social consequences of saying "actually, fucking dogs is gross and you should sunset yourself if you partake."

I have been glancing at the Twitters for Kage, Xydexx, and Chef Mongoose - all Anthrocon board and all self appointed spokesmen for furry - and not a single tweet from any of them on this. Typical; I’m sure they think that of they put their hands over their eyes it will just go away.

The most they'll do is ban them without saying much and hope the problem goes away, like they've done with people causing chaos like Prawst or furries who "make the fandom look bad" like the furries who went on the Tyra Banks show.

A lot of the reason for the furry fandom's rep as a sex fandom is because the fandom borders on fetish community. A lot of furry fandom produced content isn't non-sexual content involving anthromorphic animals, it's hypersexualized fetish art. The big cons all seem to have incidents regarding fetishists, ranging from the FWA pup play incident to the floor 21 incident at BLFC to Rainfurrest 2015 in general. Unless furry porn artists are doing it as a side job they keep well hidden from their main art job (which many talented artists end up doing) they get a reputation of "wasting talent" because they'll get really good at art and just draw porn.

Unlike other general fandoms like the Anime fandom or gamers, there's also not much central media the fandom revolves around besides some movie or game with anthromorphic animals that was likely targeted towards kids.

The furry fandom earned that reputation for a reason.
