I think every state has laws against straw purchasing for convicted felons and in general people who are otherwise disqualified. Private sellers generally have no access to ways of doing background checks. Nobody is going to sell to Phil, other than those sleazeballs you mentioned who Phil would probably be afraid of, if they don't already know him because just seeing him, you'd assume there was something wrong with him (and you would be right).

In Oregon all private sales have to go through an FFL except close family members.

I do know people familiar with the antifa scene in portland. Some of them make their own arms and teach others (Legit anarchist types, not posers like the potatofa) . It begs some concern Phil might learn from, bypass the routine methods of getting a gun.

Just waiting for Phil to go on his spree against some suspected Kiwis with a home made AK 47 and misses every single shot.

Anyone who has the genius to do so will be ratted out when Phil is accosted by a police officer: Phil is as soft as he is slimy.

Stupid question possibly, I'm non-US based, is the sale of ammunition regulated, or just the firearm itself? How hard is it to get ammunition in the US, especially where he is?
Ammunition usually afaik isn't regulated, just hella expensive.
You can buy a flamethrower for the right price.

Pigman Phil's been booted from most scenes and is literally just copy-pasting his rhetoric from marginally less stupid people in the circle of people that ignore him. He also looks like a police plant and squeals regularly to the police whenever he feels afraid.

In short; I can't really see him hanging with this group at all unless its at the edges and he decided to bribe them at best. His reputation is that awful.

Phil commented on Greta's (ex-TLL) recent firearms post that he wanted a Kel-Tec, didn't he? I know nothing about guns, but from what I've picked up on here Kel-Tecs are the tacticool end of the firearms spectrum rather than being a good investment.

Lol at Phil's demeanor in the shop. Omg guns! I get to touch them! Ooooooh, power! Creepy as hell.
They're cheap guns with a gangbanger reputation, the same goes with Hi-Point. Kel-Tec is also notorious for quality control issues at times, and the previous company run by the same guy was notorious for making shitty guns like the TEC-9, a gun famous for jamming and it's use by gangbangers and mass shooters.

Generally un-regulated.

Some states do keep a tighter control. Oregon is not one of them.

Phil will be the one to bring down the antifa super soldier terrorist cell.

I checked Armslist for Phil's location. He could easily get a shitty 9mm handgun for less than another tattoo. Ammunition isn't hard to get, but shooting is not a cheap hobby.

Edit: Phil still doesn't actually own a firearm.

The last thing a gun dealer is gonna do is sell a gun to someone with an ANTIFA shirt on. If something goes down the dealer would probably be dogpiled by his own clique for doing so.

Ammo is cheap as fuck. A state up you can get 500 rounds of 9mm for 109 (4.7¢ a round) but it takes like 5,000 rounds to tell the difference between a hole in the ground and your ass at least that’s what my dad told me. (That’s without any coaching which is not cheep)

Slam fire shotguns are dead simple. Two pipes that overlap and some kind of pin at the back. Boom a getto shotgun.

Just did 150/rnds in like 30min today. Always wish it was cheaper but hey I can’t make smokeless powder easily or even remotely safely.

My main point was that regular shooting is not something a ridiculously poor person like Phil could regularly do. I make a good living and I still wince at the cost of ammo.

I payed cash for my 19X (good gun if you have big palms) mainly since I don't trust banks with that info. I also kept that to myself not wanting to sound like an autistic Alex Jones.
shifty looking guys with hesitation in speech and manner not asking questions for the product, the paperwork, or the shop owner, in addition to paying with someone else's cash is kinda weird. cash alone isn't an indicator.

for many that are cash strapped, i generally point them at certain glock and 1911 "kits" i sell. includes the full size (or compact, depending) 9mm or .45, plus a .22LR conversion kit for inexpensive plinking. a firearm without ammunition is a useless lump of metal. a firearm without regular practice is a liability. $100 for a half case of 9mm is an average price, and unless you're blowing through it in a day, it'll last a month or more for the average shooter that fires off a mag or two on a weekend.

if you are more serious about shooting, you will budget for it and spend the money to meet your own needs. before i was doing it for a living, i probably spent $300-$500 each month on ammunition alone. because i'm serious about my shooting.

one question i have is that if Phil is toting around a pellet gun, is he aware that any crime performed while he has one will be treated as if it were a real gun? some jurisdictions have a prohibition on any sort of weapon, pellet guns included, for carrying around as it's listed as a public nuisance. does he honestly expect to shoot a guy talking on his cell phone near him for "transphobia" then get away with it because "it's a loophole! it's not a real gun! neener!"?

Guess I got that white privilege. Or that I just have been consuming gun media for about 3 years before I bought a gun. So I must have sounded like a sped but I had enough info to be dangerous.

i sell to 1st time gun owners frequently. the most common customer i have is new police academy graduates. generally speaking, when someone has to plonk down a couple hundred bucks of their own money (even if they get reimbursed), they're going to ask questions and do a cursory amount of research, and typically will engage the merchant about their wares. i also get the turbo sperg that knows what they want, knows what price they want to pay, and they still ask about particulars show safe handling (typically) and are familiar with the process.

admittedly a pretty good chunk of it is just reading people and making a judgement call. Phil would have been a bad sale at the time. perhaps he still is - i don't know. it's a little telling that both someone was willing to loan him some guns to shoot at a make shift range as well as tolerate being around an armed potato. but he is trying to pass off a pellet gun as an actual firearm; that tells me that he wants to be be badass but lacks the wherewithal to see it through.

with that attitude, even if he gets a real firearm, it'll be a liability. either never getting used out of fear of reprisal/responsibility, or used in a hilariously stupid and tragic way because he got his ego stroked and invests himself into the tool instead of into himself.

Hopefully for the safety of the general public, he grows out of this gun-sperging phase and goes back to obsessing full time over harmless things like road signs and bicycles
I legit see a possible couch cuck 2.0 with Phil given he's reminding me of Elliot Rodger a bit with the cowardly hateful sperg thing he has going for him. Thankfully I predict he'll at worst only hurt people with his garbage gun skills and then get Rodney King'ed by the police if he ever nutted up (heh) enough to do it.

That's of course if he has the attention span to save the money to get a shitty gun and if he doesn't die of sepsis from his botchjob.

In the event that Phil goes postal, probably the only person who will be at high risk is Toren.
